everybody wore a tie back in the day
I recently horse-traded the Triple Bay away. Just a car hobbiest, and couldn't justify at this point in life having several 1000's of $$$ setting in the garage, when I didn't use it but every couple of months. Spent a few hundred for shelving at Lowe's and loaded up some of the over 100 hand boxes I'd collected years ago during the flea markets/garage sales/pawn shop days. Took over 20 hours working evenings and weekends sorting and condensing the triple bay's stuff into the double bay and the hand boxes, unreal!

Between Dad and I, we have too many tools for just the standard toolbox... Need to get a intermediate 4 or 5 drawer too.
Oh MAK, where did you get the magnet shelfs? Been looking for days and no one has them.

I got this box for $600 from someone whom needed money BADLY and wanted to sell.
It needed a bunch of body work, but this was the only way that I could afford to get into a bigger box than what I had.

That was when I first started to prep it.
Then I shot it in Nissan Taupe:

And finally I made a Stainless Steel top for it out of 16 gauge Brushed.

Some of us are ****. I plan on stripping, epoxy priming, and doing bodywork on my old SO box. I'm also still considering retrofitting ball-bearing slides. It raises the value of your box and looks nice in your shop. I'm not very hard on my tools or box so "war wounds" aren't a huge attraction for me. After using tools frequently and keeping them in nice shape, "war wounds" usually means abuse to me. I can't say that I've never abused my tools, but I avoid it if possible.why would a tool box need body work ? if the drawers and locks work no problem
my box has plenty of war wounds

Thanks guys! My sister thinks that I have too much time on my hands, but I'm glad that you guys appreciate a weekend worth of work. It's completely filled with eBay truck brands too.
Now what to do about a matching top box... Hum...

Some people prefer to look "professional". If I went to a mechanic and their box was beat to ****, I would get back in my vehicle and go to the next shop (and have). If they can't even take care of their money maker, why in the hell would they take care of my vehicle? There's no reason for a box to get beat up, other than being careless.
Most people have seen pictures of my box, and I get complimented on it weekly by people that make more in a week than I will in a lifetime. Every one of them says it's nice to see a box that's taken care of in front of their plane, rather than some of the other beat up ones.
People at work have been told to get new boxes for this very reason.
I think that box looks great, and the work done on it is excellent. I'm a fan of original boxes. If I knew nothing of two mechanics and saw one with a box with "war wounds", and one like adam's, adam would have my business guaranteed. It's obvious he takes pride in what he does.
