Here is my setup at work. I am an industrial equipment mechanic. Ac & DC electric motors, gearboxes, pumps, etc.

Box is a Mac MB1850 I picked up used a couple months ago from my S/O dealer. It's in good working condition, had a dent which I knocked mostly out, and the paint is thin in a few spots, some wore down to bare metal when I wiped the box down. I plan to repaint it eventually. Sorry, no pics of the insides. Still trying to get it organized and set up to my liking.

The cabinet I got from my grandfather. No idea on brand or age but but the steel is thicker than the current Craftsman tool boxes  I cleaned it up and painted with a Cman scheme and added a Cman logo from my old box. Bottom holds pigmats, various greases and chemicals, tapes, sealants, various boxes of gloves, etc. Top is a mini fridge and stereo, speakers are mounted on the top with home theater satellite swivel mounts, and in hutch area of the cabinet I have a small 6" deep shelf I made of wood and angled to hold my WIFI hotspot, tablet, phone, etc and charge them all. And I stream Pandora from my tablet into the stereo. I also have a full stock of eye bolts, metric on the left, sae on the right for lifting all types of equipment.

Here is our son showing off my new 52" Craftsman. Seems they are on clearance making way for a new style box. Didn't really want to buy right now, however I like all of my boxes to be the same style. I spent $903.00 for just the bottom this time. In 2006 I spent $760.00 for 1st one, and in 2012 I was able to buy the top and bottom 52" at $999.00 My overall plan is to have all three across the back of my garage. Overall happy to have the storage. I found once you can pull out a drawer and lay your hands on a tool vs. dig - I got hooked on having more storage.

Little man looks kinda like I did when my 52" griplatch toolbox showed up!! Well.... I had a perma-smile for like 2 days!! :D Enjoy!!

Just got the new KRL722 in the home garage, the deal was made possible by the Snap-On Rock n Roll Cab Express Truck visiting Alaska this summer!

You have the job I want (and a killer setup to boot). Can't wait to finish school and be able to get into a more specialty field. No more greasing OTR trucks

Sure would appreciate some close up, front on pictures, of that hutch setup. I'm looking to build something very similar for my own workshop

Here's my setup. I've had the box for a few years and it has done the job pretty well, but it is getting very cramed and it is getting harder to keep it neat. I'll upgrade in the near future. That looks like a box that can get a lot done, good organization. Looks good, don't upgrade too soon otherwise it doesn't end and before you know it you'll need plates & insurance for your "toolbox"

I bought this Matco triple bay off CL and it had a ton of stickers on that the guy had pulled off but had left all the glue on it. I spent two days detailing the box. First I removed all the glue, then I took all the drawers out and cleaned the liners and paint inside each drawer. I then buffed the outside of the box with a compound, then polish, then yellow wax. I think the box turned out great.

I tried to upload pictures but I keep getting an error message.

LOVE that setup!!!!! ^^^^^^^^^^

 Thanks!

Thank you! I've got a lot of great feedback when I first took it into the shop. Still get comments on it even almost a year later. First day of work after taking it in, the boss was checking it out and asked "so where you hiding the tv? you have everything else in there!" Lol

As for the job, I my buddy worked there for 7 years and one day stopped by and said "my boss wants to talk to you, we were talking and he said he wants to hire another mechanic and I told him about you." Most of the job has been great, been there for almost a year and a half now, but it does have some ****** parts, literally. Some of the submersible pumps I rebuild come in from municipal waste facilities, therefore they are covered in poo :monkey_po But other than that, I love the job.

Sure would appreciate some close up, front on pictures, of that hutch setup. I'm looking to build something very similar for my own workshop

Not a problem. I had some pics from when I was repainting and modifying it, but they must be on the old PC. So I'll get some pics in the next couple days and get them to you.

Very nice , I have that same box. It was a gift as my first tool box ~14 years ago. Still going strong. Looks like you have it organized to the T with very nice tools. Can you pick it up though? That thing must have some weight. I never trusted just that one handle on the top. I always wished they put side handles on it.

I bet that looks really slick, pink with a green background. I really want some strawberry ice cream now though. :lol_hitti Maybe a kiwiw to go with it. No seriously that looks very clean, white box with bright liner.

Thank you. I think I have a decent start(I'm only 16). Yeah I can pick it up. It's kinda sketchy though because one of the chrome latches is bent a little and comes undone sometimes. But it weighs a lot so I try not to move it too much.

Here's the box I keep in the house (ready to be deployed for repairs at the MIL's house or elsewhere or here in the house) -- 70% is Craftsman (wrenches, ratchets, sockets, screwdrivers), 20% Snap-On/Mac, and some HF (hammer, pick set, soldering iron, wood plane, level). The OBD scanner is an Amazon cheapie branded one (AGT), but it works great.

HF 41 inch box i was/am amazed at the structural quality of this box. Plans on buying both side locker and 7 drawer side cabinet. I work in a small engine shop, all drawers get opened multiple times a day this box has been moved multiple times over the last year seen alot of miles and multiple times the drawers have been taken out and put back in with no issues. Great tool storage for great price.

more pictures of my box, some before and after pictures as well. Home made wrench holders made from single strand copper wire wrapped around a axel shaft seems to be holding well @ .39 cents a foot i couldnt go wrong. Moved some tools around after wrench holders and socket trays left me with one empty drawer, time to fill it

The Mastercraft is made in Canada, as is the intermediate box.

Yes, that is a radio cut in the intermediate box. I plan on doing a thread on that in the future.

It is not satelite capable, just an older deck that I removed from a car that was going to the wreckers.

I haven't seen any homemade boxes since I've been reading this thread, so I thought I'd show mine.

I built these boxes in the early 90's. My partner at the time was supposed to build a matching set. The idea was that we would make inserts to go between the boxes to drop in a contractor saw, chopsaw, whatever ; and have a large work table with out feeds for the saws. A mobile shop. We were doing exhibit/show/theatre/event installations at the time. He never built his boxes, he got married with kids instead (that bit him in the *** later). I used these boxes on the job for about 12yrs. Now they've become catch-alls.

The blue foam lining is hot water tank insulation. It comes in large rolls and is about 3/16" thick. It's held up well over the years.

Have just enough room for my impact and charger, then my 'go-to' box is complete and can live in my car/garage for the meantime. I think my chest is going to stay in the basement when I finish the renovation, I won't be able to find the matching roller cabinet so it has to sit on a bench which won't happen due to lack of space.

Wire nuts are our friend!

Yes my socket collection isn't that great but it works for most of what I do. If I need a particular size I'll go and buy that one vs springing for a huge set and not needing most of it. Saves space.

State of the basement, I love those Stanley plastic organizers, especially when it's $10 for the double pack.

Chopped from my other thread.

Here is my Tool Shelf :D

I worked as a mechanic during college and am now on my last semester so i decided to take a break. Quit work and moved all my tools home. the box (SO krl761) is in a storage unit. Renters insurance on the tools is cheaper than storage unit insurance and i feel better knowing my tools are close by lol. still more not in the picture but they are just specialty tools in plastic boxes and my toter with other smaller stuff.

Hello all! As you can see i am new to the forums, but super glad to be here. I have been nosing around here and there and found this post so have spent the last couple days going through everyones boxes, and i found it amusing that i am not alone on organizing my box, well its not complete yet but I mean the mind set anyways, I am OCD so i probably get a bit more irritated then some lol. I just resently started a auto and motorcycle restoration company with my Dad. My Dad has a (Ithink) 30" snap on combo top/bottom and its nice but I have way to many tools so i needed something bigger. I had ordered a 41" orange Viper chest but the day I ordered it i seen a 44" HF chest on craigslist for a crazy low price, it was only $200 and was literally brand new so I grabbed that and cancelled my other order, although my OCD tells me I needed it orange I still went through with it lol. But when i went to fill it i did not realize how hard it was going to be for me, I have not got any part of it in a configurarion I am happy with lol. I bought three 1/2" - 72"x24" black yoga mats and three 1/8" - 72"x24" red yoga mat that i am going to use as cut out organizers for all my drawers, once I am happy with some layouts i plan to use the 1/2" to cut out the spots for the tool and then once everything is cut out I will Gorilla Glue the 1/8" red mat to the bottom to give it a cool contrast. once its all done I will post a couple pictures for everyone. I kinda think i want to sell the top chest for a workstation top instead but i am not sure about that one yet. Welp thats about it right now, sorry for the crappy spelling, etc. I am doing this post from my tablet.

Have a good one,
-Rich (Street Dreams Motorsport)
