On my what seems to be never ending quest to stick with my 26 inch tool box, I spent some time reorganizing my current tool box last night.

I was able to free up more room by trimming the socket rails. The end result was this.

ya have plenty of room in there

for more sockets

Yes Sir,
I am gonna pick up my 1/2 drive SAE/Metric 12 points today, then a E Socket strip. Today was my first day off in forever, and I think my body is telling me I better stay home and relax a bit. So, I am gonna wait until this evening.

I ended up using a lower drawer for my Impact section. Its gonna be a heavy drawer, but it is probably better off in the lower than up high.

That's an amazing set up. How old are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm always curious how people amass these huge collections. You probably have more money in tools and tool boxes than most people spend on their house in your state

I smell a HF box with a Snap On badge.

They are harbor freight. I never said they were snap on boxes. They were what made sense for me and I have been very happy with them. I got the nameplates off ebay. Flip side is I am into them real cheap and have money for other things like the cars and obviously the tools. If they fail then shame on me for going the route I did, but until then I am very content. I only wish the 56 had a full length draw.

Thank you. I am 29 (surprises a lot of people lol). I got my first small c-man cart when I was 17 (still have it) and it has obviously escalated from there. Every tool is 100% paid for, just owe a bit for the side lockers I got earlier this year. I can honestly say I can fix anything that rolls into the shop. I realized the video looks like ****, but I'm a mechanic, not a photographer :lol_hitti

I had a few minutes of down time today and made a quick video, figured I would share. Had to rush through it a bit as the first one I tried timed out. Left out the contents of my small end cab, which only holds a duramax special tool kit and various wire harnesses, coils, modules and some extra gaskets, etc.

Impressive set up. I watched the video as well. Best of luck. If I ever get a snap on box it will be an epiq. They are beautiful boxes.

Yes, its a tech 2. I got it several years ago when I worked at gm and got tired of tracking down the shops every day. If you are diligent, you can find genuine gm ones in the $1000-1500 range with a candi module. The shop I'm at now has several factory scan tools, which you are correct, its pretty awesome. Sorry about the crappy video, it honestly didn't look too bad on my phone lol.

Dodge96, in the third photo from the bottom, there is a black case of open end wrenches. I've seen pics of similar before, what special purpose do they serve?

service/pump wrenches. Martin has made them for years. Good for JIC and pipe thread fittings when a backing wrench is need and minimal space. Many applications for them but thats my use.

I think MSC calls them pump wrenches.

Are they designed for minimal clearance situations, made for a cheater, hammer on them?

Bonney calls them service wrenches too.

I believe they are first generation MAC Tool boxes before they changed the handle from the round type to square box type. I've worked many years ago with a since retired heavy duty mechanic who own such a box and that's what inspired me to purchased a MAC Tool box over a Snap On version. They don't make tool boxes like that anymore.

Anyone know where I can pick up a good matching 3 drawer intermediate tool chest to fit between my MAC Tool chest and roller cabinets here locally in greater Vancouver B.C. area? Preferred the matching red MAC Tool type as per picture below. It's either purchase the intermediate chest to buy some time to handle the overflow tools or just bit the bullet and purchase a larger Snap On or MAC Tool chest/roller cabinet.

I have a MAC just like this, got it off an ex-crew chief for chip ganassi racing for free.

Check out the Vancouver Craigslist listings. Go to tools and type in snap on. Look for lightly used box. I am not smart enough to put the pic here or I would. It's a snap on box laying on its face after it fell over.

That is the way to do it. I had everything except my box paid off when my dealership closed and I got laid off so i've still got all my tools and don't owe a dime on any of them.

P.S. I watched your vid, you've got one hell of an impressive setup there.

Love all my Cornwell stuff, sadly this box is another story. Worst drawer design ever, and to top it off if I roll it to one side of my bay the top drawer trys to open the two below. Cornwell reps stated it is the shop floor, but that shouldnt effect a well made box in my opinion. Eyeing a Snap on epiq when its full!

Ive always heard of them called line wrenches. We used them for tight areas or skinny areas. Ive beaten and stood on these. There HF and have held up well! Just need the meteric set.

I added a new box to the collection. This one stays in the back of the truck. I own a laundromat and I got tired of raiding my home box to go do repairs. Not to mention having to put it all back etc. I grabbed this craftsman box off Craigslist for $50. It's the nice version with the gas struts up top and all ball bearing slides. Now the good part. I went to harbor freight today and stuffed this thing full of everything I could ever need for under $300. I will do a tour and put it on youtube in a few days. I contemplated using good stuff for the box, but after I priced it out I would be in the thousands. Not too mention if someone steals this thing they get $300 bucks worth of harbor freight vs thousands for decent stuff. The box in the truck also let's me go directly to the store from wherever I am vs having to divert home first.
