Yes, the KRA heritage series is.... Yet in this application for a top chest the 15 drawer 5315 series is more suited to my required system of storage.

I acquired the Craftsman stack new in '03. A recent re-grease of the slides and it is now all happy again.

Wow. Nice setup for sure. I have the same Craftsman top box that you have and I really like it. I actually quite prefer the grip latch to the Snap-on style of latch.

picked up new 3/8 cordless ratchet wednesday dont know if worth the money but not unhappy so far!

Thanks! When I got the cart, I worked for a company that built fire trucks, so there was a lot of scrap for uses such as this. The wood is just plywood. I didn't put it there. The guy who gave it to me put the sides and the top on.

I don't know...after looking at it more today I think I'm gonna powder coat the handles texture black and put em back on. Makes it to plain without em plus it leaves those holes on the side
Guess the only benefit of not having them on is you can put the box smack dab up against a wall in the corner

Ok so i found this site and this thread by googling "toolbox ****". I'm an auto tech student and lubetech at a mazda dealer, just starting to build my tool set. my shop does not have much of a tool culture. the head ford tech uses a 20 year old craftsman box and my mazda group leader just got a triple bay matco 4s last year, he didn't even have enough tools to fill it. amazing to see some of the stuff in here, the nicest box in our shop is a 3 bay matco 6s box with no addons which belongs to one of the ford lubetechs, silly since he only uses about 5 tools on a regular basis. however i can get a 2 bay 4s 25" deep from matco for like 2300 so i think im gonna pounce on that come tax return time. never gonna get that kind of deal again and since i am finally getting sent to mazda school starting later this month i will need the space. anyway enough rambling, here is what im currently working with. Matco HD tool cart.

top of cart - silver eagle sockets 1/4 and 3/8 and extensions, some silver eagle impact sockets, my 1/2" impact, dewalt 12v 3/6, matco wrenches, matco screwdrivers, matco 1/4 and 3/8 88t ratchets, craftsman low pro 1/2 ratchet, matco deadblow (for knocking loose those stubborn 13mm oil drain plugs) pick up tool and my itaste vtr

junk drawer - copper washers, razor blades, random gaskets, more vape supplies, tire valve stem caps, license plate screws/bolts and a variator for my honda ruckus that i just now realized is still in there.

pliers drawer - matco pliers, gifted no name filter pliers, matco wire strippers, matco spark gap gauge, matco chisel, cornwell air gun and utility knife, valve stem tool, tire guage, gifted no name tire chuck.

first big drawer - silver eagle 1/4 and 3/8 socket sets (the fractional stuff is in those cases, the metric is in the top of the cart), matco ratcheting screwdriver (i have never used this, don't know why i have it), matco dt4 digital tire chuck/gauge, greatneck impact driver, matco adjustable wrench

second big drawer - silver eagle bit driver set with hex, torx and whatever you call those torx socket things, drum brake tool set (never used, we don't do anything other than adjust drum brakes at my shop), matco hammer, matco battery service kit, amazon.com torque wrench 20-150 ft lbs, test light, oil filter strap and my personal favorite tool the crkt eatin tool xl. i can wrench on things with it while i eat, or i could if that wasnt totally disgusting. i do eat with it though.

its just a start, along with my new box i will be purchasing 3/8 impact sockets from snapon, deep and wobble as well as a new 3/8 air impact. hooray for student discounts.

Those 2 bay 4s matcos can be had on cl for 1000 - 1200 in good shape. They are good boxes I worked out one for 12 years before I got my krl

Nice! I've been wanting to do a SteveO inspired bank-o-boxes for a while.

This is what I'm currently working out of. Bought it used off the truck about 15 years ago. It was repo'd after about 6 months use by the original owner.

For a service cart I use the HF lower and an old Craftsman top box that I've had since I was in school. Tray of sockets in between. Works out fine for the time being.

I certainly not a tool snob so there's a bit of everything in there. SnapOn, Mac, Matco, Cornwell, S*K, Craftsman, HF, and some odd house brands. A few homemade items too.

This is my big box. I bought it about 9 years ago when I was working in a shop full time. I ended up with a 26" Craftsman as a 'home' box. I went out as a road tech many years ago with a different outfit, and the Snappy went into my home shop. My work rig has the top box from the Craftsman set, a toolbag, and a bunch of other tools crammed into the truck.

Lumidor. No idea how old it is. My grandma let me take it out of her garage probably 20 years ago. My grandpa died in '87 and was in poor health for many years before that. It's safe to day that it was old and well used 30 years ago.

I didn't even realize that. I just thought it was a different box in the middle. That's good to know. Makes me want to do that even more. Just wish there were other color options. I guess it's nothing some time in the booth couldn't cure.

Very nice setup. How stable is that cart top box combo? From the front it looks like just a few thin piece of angle holding it up off the cart?

That's exactly what it is. Small angle iron -- 2 in the front and 1 in the back with some 1/4 round stock to triangulate it. It's actually completely stable. I built it to be semi portable. The socket tray has handles and lifts out. There are magnet bars on the inside of the lid that opens 270* without the shocks attached. It takes me less than 5 minutes to load it all in the back of my Datsun wagon if I need to go nomad. It's been moved that way at least a dozen times. Since the tools I use 90% of the time are in my cart I can take the whole rig home for a weekend or even a buddy's house and tackle most any job. Plus, since it's not a $1500 SnapOn cart, I wouldn't be devastated if it got a scratch.

I love it...did you think about painting the boxes in that picture to match the frame and leaving the drawers red? I am thinking about doing something like that...it's why I ask.
