Those 2 bay 4s matcos can be had on cl for 1000 - 1200 in good shape. They are good boxes I worked out one for 12 years before I got my krl

ive been looking around on cl for a couple of days and everyone in my area seems to think 2000-2300 is the going rate for these boxes. that is right in line with what it will cost me new through the tool program. i will obviously keep looking, i really like the idea of saving 1000 lol.

My one datapoint...bought a Matco 6525 with my student discount ($2200ish) in 2003. Upgraded this summer to a 6s 28" deep during the free hutch upgrade time and got $4500 trade-in

Finally got the top box after a 3 month wait. Here are some really quick pix and what I did with the top shallow drawer:

If you do much fabrication they get used a LOT, especially if you have something complicated to setup and stage for welding and the like.

Picked up a new box for the work truck last night. I need to build a base for it so I can lift it with a forklift or hoist, and bolt it into the truck.

what exactly is the deal with the ratchet holders? I need to do something with mine.

Basically went down to HD and bought a floor mat, kind of looks like one used in a bar. Then just cut a strip or two from it. This:

Then 1/2 drives fit perfect, 3/8 fit ok, 1/4 need to cut a little groove to fit.

I lift mine with a hoist or a cherry picker by the handles. I run a lift sling threw the and handles. Works like a charm.

I like! Is it going in a service truck?

Thanks! Yep, it's already in the truck. I have angle iron bolted to the floor around it right now, not a great solution but it works okay for now.

I thought about lifting with a strap through the handles, but that gets tricky with a van. Fork slots under the bottom would be easier to handle, and give me a place to solidly bolt the box to the bed. Looks easy enough, the box has four nuts welded into the frame on the base that I can bolt it to.

What's the deal with the epiq? The guy got it about 2 years ago and it's been on eBay for almost a year.

Yeah lifting forks inside a van can get sketchy. I've got some dents from loading steer axles in the back using straps, and 2 days ago harpoon'd the back cause I didn't know this truck was on the shop for bad brakes. Haha. Just dont turn yours into swiss cheese, I've drilled way too many holes in mine, and its only a 2013....

that epiq is still starting at 55k on ebay. on my watch list, although i don't have the money for that set up.

To be honest, I looked at that setup on ebay.... Tool box is outstanding but I dont see 120K worth of goodies. 55K isnt unreasonable for a complete setup but no one gets into the trade spending that kinda money, and no ones drops 55K after they have been in the trade for some time instead they buy tools, a box and settle into there own stuff.

Only 2 reasons I see a guy listing this as a package is... 1 dont have to deal with listing individual items & 2 its makes the old lady happy thinking your actually trying to get rid of your **** but really in the back of your mind you know there is no chance someone will buy it lol

This looks terrible btw, of course the size is nice but the dropped back design of the hutch looks horrid and the 1/2 length vertical cabinets looks very out of place. If I am gunna spend 20k+ on a box... it wont look like that
