Newbie, from the UK, so thought the best place to start was this thread! Some mighty fine looking boxes on here, with some mighty fine stuff in them!
Mine's not so large, or impressive, or expensively stocked, but it does me for what I need. I'm a windscreen fitter by trade, and work 100% mobile, so can't have huge boxes, and don't need tonnes of tools either.
Box is a Snap On KRA-59K (think that's the right part no.) I picked up used about 10 years ago, and I reckon the box must have been about 10 years old by then too. I've had a couple lesser branded boxes in the past, but they couldn't stand up to life on the road - this box has been on 6 or 7 different vans, over ten years, in different positions, and other than a few dents, and a few holes drilled by me (to secure it in place) it's as good as it was when I got it. I was gutted when I had to remove the lid, and front flap, but on my current, and previous, van there was just no room for it to open
Anyway, pics!
The box;
Top three drawers - pliers and grips / wrenches / stuff for hitting (chisels, etc);
Second row of three - drivers/bits / picks and hooks / rivets;
Middle drawer - ratchets;
4th drawer - cutting stuff;
And the bottom drawer, which is really just the dumping ground for bits and bobs;
Lift out tote - generally the "most used" stuff - ratchet screwdriver, couple dedicated drivers, hook/pick tools, trim tools, 10mm+13mm ratchet spanners, grips, etc. A bit of everything;
Couple of sets that don't fit in the tool box, so live on the shelf above (Whitworth and imperial sockets don't get a lot of use, really only on older cars, but sometimes troublesome bolts!);
And that's pretty much it. There's more tools in different places in the van - stuff I need to grab easily, stuff that doesn't fit in the drawers, etc. I'd love a step up box to go under the main box, but lack of room is the problem (and this is the biggest van I've had to date!)
The annoying thing is, I measured the width of the sliding side door opening and it's about 40.5", meaning a nice 40" KRA would fit in there PERFECTLY - if it wasn't for the racking that comes already configured and installed!
