The more I see white boxes the more I like them. What type of work do you do that makes you keep the ear muffs handy? And welcome to GJ :beer:

Diesel tech... 3/4 and 1" impact guns are loud :shocking: I keep a set on the top of my box for the odd time I'm not wearing ear plugs.

Diesel tech. Someone is always blowing parts dry. And we have a Allison Transmission dyno in the shop. That loud also

That too :thumbup:

I picked up this Craftsman mainly because it was black and it was on sale and matches my $15 bottom box which was an old cash box. I think it's a pretty cool little setup for my office. I still need to organize it and put in only the thing that I use inside the house. I have enough junk out in the shop already. :lol_hitti

Anyway, here are the pix:

That is one heck of a "office box".

Hello from a new active member! I've been browsing through here more than three times and that tells me I should join.

Here is my MAC MB910/920 combo that is getting a little rework.

Welcome :beer: I really like the old MB910/920 boxes. What all is being done to it? I see the port a power did the box have a run in with something?

Newbie, from the UK, so thought the best place to start was this thread! Some mighty fine looking boxes on here, with some mighty fine stuff in them!

Mine's not so large, or impressive, or expensively stocked, but it does me for what I need. I'm a windscreen fitter by trade, and work 100% mobile, so can't have huge boxes, and don't need tonnes of tools either.

Box is a Snap On KRA-59K (think that's the right part no.) I picked up used about 10 years ago, and I reckon the box must have been about 10 years old by then too. I've had a couple lesser branded boxes in the past, but they couldn't stand up to life on the road - this box has been on 6 or 7 different vans, over ten years, in different positions, and other than a few dents, and a few holes drilled by me (to secure it in place) it's as good as it was when I got it. I was gutted when I had to remove the lid, and front flap, but on my current, and previous, van there was just no room for it to open :(

Anyway, pics!

The box;
box_zps913af972.jpg

Top three drawers - pliers and grips / wrenches / stuff for hitting (chisels, etc);
firstthree_zps2c3cf537.jpg

Second row of three - drivers/bits / picks and hooks / rivets;
secondthree_zps82189e8e.jpg

Middle drawer - ratchets;
ratchets_zps924baa00.jpg

4th drawer - cutting stuff;
cutting_zps0e642cab.jpg

And the bottom drawer, which is really just the dumping ground for bits and bobs;
bottom_zpse47d5ad1.jpg

Lift out tote - generally the "most used" stuff - ratchet screwdriver, couple dedicated drivers, hook/pick tools, trim tools, 10mm+13mm ratchet spanners, grips, etc. A bit of everything;
tote_zpsb4cc1895.jpg

Couple of sets that don't fit in the tool box, so live on the shelf above (Whitworth and imperial sockets don't get a lot of use, really only on older cars, but sometimes troublesome bolts!);
sockets_zps841a5b33.jpg

And that's pretty much it. There's more tools in different places in the van - stuff I need to grab easily, stuff that doesn't fit in the drawers, etc. I'd love a step up box to go under the main box, but lack of room is the problem (and this is the biggest van I've had to date!)

The annoying thing is, I measured the width of the sliding side door opening and it's about 40.5", meaning a nice 40" KRA would fit in there PERFECTLY - if it wasn't for the racking that comes already configured and installed!

And yesterday I made up some drawer dividers using aluminium L-profile edging;

2sanv2o.jpg

30x30x2 (mm) cut to length, then simply stuck down with double sided foam tape, and trimmed the rubber mat drawer liners to but up against them. A fraction of the cost of the plastic Snap On ones, and should last, well, forever!

Was going to paint them red to match, but then decided I really couldn't be bothered to wait the best part of a week doing a coat per evening of 2x primer and 3x red.

I'd like to refurb the box at some point - give a rub down, a good clean, key it and a new coat of red, so maybe I'll do them then.

That's not right. I see entirely way too much open floor space in that pic. :spit: I like that teal box. Drawer layout and color wise. :beer:

On the other side of that space (behind the extreme 56") is no open space thanks to a truck load of Amsoil plus two ridgid shop vacs a shop vac air mover and my detail shelf but two pallets of amsoil stacked 5 feet high. :eek: is what's occupying my other space:wtf:.

Getting ready to move all of this stuff to a new home soon.:thumbup:

Thanks for the compliment. It's a Teal 777

I see that AmsOil collection on the rack.
Are those two boxes strictly for the bike?
Nice T handle set up. Have you seen the motion Pro spinner T handle 3/8 and 1/4" units?
I have a buddy who rides and has 3 bikes and a box set up just for the bikes.:bounce:
You guys have heart because the stuff they do I just can't do it.. Trails and all...

One box is full of metric and bike specific tools and the other box is full of sae and auto specific tools. Motion pro makes some really nice tools.

I dig the 777 but I think my life is about to become a lot more mobile. I don't think motels will like me having 2000lbs. of toolbox pressing into their carpet!
When did Snap On stop building them? Any idea of prices when available?

Thanks, though!

Nice box lol, we also share the same.one. but why the cardboard under the wheels?
The shop was built with sloping floors. Must have seemed like a good idea back in the day but nothing is level. The drawers would creep open if left unlatched. The cardboard is to keep it level. I have to set the brakes on my roll cart or it might wander off.

I did the same except used large flat washers

I know it was out in 98 not sure when they stopped making them. If I find another one I'm getting it.

No idea what the cost was then but they sell them at the Harley Davidson near me for tooooo much money.:mad: (see pic)
Only cause its a Harley box.:dunno:
Someone on ebay is selling on for 3K :lol:

The more I see that 777 KRL the more I am interested in it. It's not the wide stuff that's popular today and maybe that's why they stopped making it but damn it looks handy to put next to your wide normal use box.

Welcome :beer: I really like the old MB910/920 boxes. What all is being done to it? I see the port a power did the box have a run in with something?

Thank you!

It started when I moved and the box was rocking on two casters. Got measuring and the diagonals were off by 1/2 inch. Also found washers under one of the casters someone installed to try to correct for this. Pulled the washers out and straightened it with the P-A-P to make her square again.

No signs anywhere that it got bashed, but I think during one move it got over ratchet-strapped.

Now it's become a "while I've got it apart" project and it will be getting a re-paint. I want to just do the outside surfaces as the slides and insides are still good. A few drawer nicks and such but most of that will get prettied up with drawer liners.

I posted this back in the hf box thread but it can go here too

My chrome handles on my 56" box were getting really oxidized looking so I took them off and I ground off the "us general" stamping and then I sent em off for some powder coat. Did semi flat texture coating. They turned out great

I love them (KRL 777). The size can be deceiving, the box holds a lot , it's tall deep and wide. They are perfect for me.:beer:
