Here are my tool boxes in my basement. Excuse the mess. it's pretty unorganized but I just got these and I'm trying to figure out where they go and what goes where.

Not at all. Know where every single tool is without thinking about. When I'm under a car I can tell someone go in the garage, second box in, third drawer down, grab me the wrench on the right side.

If I was your tool fetcher, even knowing the drawer I would have a hard time finding the tool:

You know your setup reminds me of this thread, but the pics have been taken down:

I didn't post those drawers for that reason lol. They get used so rarely that it doesn't bother me. Gotta put the stuff somewhere and as you can see the set up is past its capacity. There's still a bunch of tools that don't fit in the boxes. One day it will get better when I get a shop.

I don't know what that thread looked like but I'm assuming it was more of an insult than a compliment.

Most of my tools are snap on, a lot of SK too, some mac, cornwell, KD, etc...

Its just a montezuma upper with a snap on base and wood top. Holds a lot of tools though, I have about 1000 sockets, 30 ratchets, couple hundred wrenches, 50 or so vise grips and pliers, hundred or so screw drivers, air tools, etc etc etc in there and its still pretty organised.

Very easy to work out of and very easy to figure out if something is missing, there are no empty spots so when something is gone you see it right away.

US General 56", 11 Drawer Glossy Red Industrial Roller Cabinet

Once the 56" top goes on sale with a coupon I am getting it.

This is what the US General 56' replaced:

This set up has gone to my basement to store plumbing, household tools and firearm cleaning kits.

I have a tool cart hence limited space. 1-drawer is dedicated to wrenches and I have them organized very similar to this. In an effort to make more space and sacrifice these nice wrench holders, I was going to go with drawer partitions and just keep the wrenches in each partition, metric in one SAE in the other. Question is how much extra space will I get by just throwing the wrenches in a partitioned section of the drawer. Yea, it's nice to lust glance in and grab that 10-mm, and all those wrenches lined up looks cool, but I don't mind routing through my metric wrenches and finding the correct size. I need to fit my torque wrenches, adjustable wrenches, etc in the same drawer.

Anyone know where to find those L-shaped socket wrench sets like Merbie has?

I remember some posts with thAt style that had a pass thru on the short side. Was kinda cool for long threaded studs n whatnot

Mine were my grandfathers and are made in France not the Czech Republic like the new ones and other than the 10mm the rest do not have a hole through the angle, there still immensely useful

In all honesty the Czech versions seem to have a nicer finish compared to my French ones, mine have a pebble satin finish

yeah I don't really get what they are for. I cant see a situation where those would be usefull over a deep offset wrench or even a ratchet. I guess maybe pulling the nuts off of really long bolts, but my regular combo wrenches have always worked for that and they ratchet.
