I actually don't. I should have them, but I usually get away with using my universal shallow sockets. I want to get the shallow ones but I am currently out of space unless I start stacking more.

You can fit a lot more in that drawer, like so

Finally broke down and shipped a small top chest up to work. It's nice having the extra room, but I haven't really lost any space that I normally use. Snapped a quick picture of it before rolling it into the corner for a few weeks. New crew coming in, need to hide it out of harms way..

Top drawer shot, common use stuff plus whatever doesn't fit in my other drawers (long screwdriver set). Bet this is different than most!

Hey guys, im an apprentice diesel mechanic and i finally upgraded from my HF cart that i loved a week ago, it just got too jammed packed with tools and i wanted to get my first serious toolbox. The Snap on guy told me he had a 54in Master series with a stainless top so i thought about it for a week or two then decided to get it, and i love it! Plenty of space for me right now and in the future for sure! Its also got some black out trim package or something, but its got all black trim, wheels, badges ect.

Picked up an Mac MB1500 snap on dealer took as trade. Pretty rough shape all slides wasted was asking $800 but a kind coworker negotiated him down to $300 for me. Gave the top box to that coworker as a thank you and since I prefer work surface on top of the roll cab anyway. Have a 52" husky that I will be moving from once I restore the mb1500.

Decided to do carbon fiber vinyl atop the drawers as it is likely to hold up Better and I feel should be easier to clean. Box will be painted gloss black.

Details on the carbon fiber vinyl please. Did your dealer cover all the slides under warranty?

Mac actually covered the sliders under the lifetime warranty. I called they asked if I was original owner and I explained that I was not and that I purchased the box used since I was looking for a higher quality box to replace a low end husky. The lady then said okay so you are the original owner then and I knew where she was going with that so I said that is correct. MAC provided all new sliders free of charge.

As for the vinyl, I was in the car Audio and electronics business for some time and had several customers and friends pay me to wrap roofs and other misc vehicle parts so I figured I would try it on my box. I was not opposed to painting the drawers but I felt that it may chip easily as opposed to a factory powder coat finish. I did however prep and prime the drawers (only 3 at this time since I ran out of primer) before I wrapped them. Let them sit a day, heated them up and applied the vinyl.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B00QW...=AC_SX110_SY165_QL70&keywords=4d+carbon+fiber

Vinyl was ordered through Amazon i usually use 3m but since it's for a toolbox and I am not worried about clean removal I figured if it didn't adhere good I could just use a permanent contact adhesive to solve that.

I would hate to see the price of that around here. There was a 32" box in similar shape the tool truck guy wanted 1200 firm and the locks didn't work.

It's crazy what they ask for these boxes. I was all set to go to harbor freight and pick up the 56" roll cab since $699 is a great deal for that box in my book. I'm not particularly good at negotiating and the snap on dealer knew I wanted to get a fixer upper box so he kind of just dropped the box off said $800 if you want it if not let me know.

The Rock and roll trailer was in town so they sold a **** load of new boxes and he just didn't want this piece of **** box on his truck so when my co worker called him to say hey the box is not worth the 800 he came down on the price pretty quickly. This was before I even knew I could get warranty slides.

Aside from the crappy looking paint with all new slides it is a solid box. At $300 plus whatever materials I need to clean it up I feel it's a good deal

At 300 it's a steal. You have brand new slides to put on it. It will feel close to new. The vinyl wrap will make it look unique. In going through a similar process, I'm looking for a decent/good box for home. I hate the color red so I'll probably end up vinyl wrapping a harbor freight box unless I find a good deal on something else.

Hahaha I hate red too which was what kept me from the hf boxes. I got the husky 52" because it was gloss black but I found the quality left much to be desired I figure with the primer if the vinyl ever turns out to be a poor decision I can just scuff and paint them gloss black like the rest of the box will be.

That's going to be a nice box once it's all cleaned up. I think for $300 and some elbow grease you did well.

Thank you,
Took a trial run with one of the drawers today (the one that houses my magnets, magnetic drop lights, and my power tool chargers) and the flat black primer actually held up better than I thought but still after removing the drop lights 25-30 times I could begin to see some of the paint beginning to chip.

In rebuilding this box I have 2 goals one is to make the box have that new box feel (you guys know the one I am describing the one where you open the drawer and see the visually clean drawer liner and the UN-marred drawer sides) and the second is to make it hold up well under normal use.

Many guys in my shop have repainted and cleaned up used boxes but all I have seen have been rush jobs. Anyway usually within a few weeks to a few months the paint is badly chipped and the box looks just as bad if not worse than it did prior to their repairs.

I am a mechanic by trade and my hands are dirty I get covered in solvents and grease and fluids and then I need more tools from the box. It's not going to live a sheltered life and it has to hold up because I can't be bothered tiptoeing around my box.

Any one have any suggestions for inside the drawers I was considering getting the roll on bed liner protector and coating inside before putting down the soft rubber liners and maybe that will hold up.

I used SEM clear guard (clear rocker guard) over primer and painted on top. Gives it that textured look and holds up nicely.

Thank you again

It is on my home box, currently at my dads house i will tey to stop by tomorrow on the way home from work. We use it in spray cans at work and as long as you wipe the tip after use it works great.
