Believe it or not, these boxes roll very good. Too good actually.... Almost lost one down my driveway when unloading it. It was a scary sight...

Thanks guys, It actually was an old cart my grandfather used, I just added new tops and another brace.
It started out as one of those medical beside tables that you can adjust the height on. I have two others i use for outfeed tables and such, and a barn full of them that need to be cleaned up or need new casters.
I whipped that up last night while I was letting the paint dry on my walls, I had so much just sitting around and I needed some more storage.
It isn't perfectly square, but its sturdy and does its job, and the plywood was free.
I have pondered taking all the stickers off and cleaning it up but at the same time it brings back a lot of memories.
New to GJ, Here is my box. I plan to upgrade to a larger one soon as I am running out of room, but I will keep this one as it was the first toolbox that my father gave me.
That old craftsman on the bottom was my grandfathers that I refinished to hold all my electrical tools.
Nice box. I love the one you refinished as well, any pics of it. Does it have the flip out trays when you open it.

Here ya go! It's a 50" Proto 450HS. Our welder onsite cut me a chunk of plate for a top, and I now have a small Beach chest for overflow.

Love it. I really would love to some say have a Proto box. Don't get me wrong I love all of the snap on, Mac, and Marco boxes But to me the Proto boxes have that old school tool box look.
That Proto has the 24 or 25" depth right?
I know on some of Rugers post with the blue ones he had that thing jam packed the amount of tools those boxes hold is incredible.

You can get a Proto as big as a double bank Mac, 67" long, 27" deep. I actually like the Proto version better as there is a 12 drawer version over the Mac 11. Only thing I don't like on the Proto is the standard casters. If I was to buy one, I'd have to swap the old style Mac spring loaded one, not the stupid looking blingy new ones.

It does not have the flip out trays, Its a 6520, originally green in color. Someone took the top tray out of it from when we had the Estate Sale.
It was left in the floor of his old shop, which had been flooding for awhile. So it had a ton of rust on the bottom.
I blasted and wire brushed it to get it down to bare metal, painted it red to match the current box I have, wish I would of done the original color now.
I did leave all the dents and dings in it though.

Edit: Now looking at some other photos, I guess Grey was the OG color, this one had a green hue for some reason.

Alright, im a noob to the forum. But, im a tool nut, and this looks like my kinda place.
Here is my work box. Pick it up used, and my buddy that does custom paint laid down the gold flake, scallops and white section (canvas for pinstriping at a later date) for me. I dig it. But, i hate having anyone near it. Poor me.

You guys ever price out replacement drawer trim for your boxes? I was tossing around the idea of maybe getting red or green for my KRL after seeing the 95th anniversary boxes and my dealer had a green trimmed out black box on his truck and both looked great. Almost $700 and it doesn't include the corner trim. Don't like it that much!

Mr big lists for 24. I think it was around 14 with stainless top last I asked. You should see the one on the rock n roll truck. It has a Hutch on left side top box on right. And then two lockers on each end. He said I could have it for 24k without the lockers.
Yeah, I realized that after I looked a little closer at the first picture. I'll take my ownage and move on.
Nicely done it looks great thank you for sharing the album. I love that you actually removed the latches and handles. A lot of times you see guys restore boxes and don't pay mind to those little details.

Is there a distributor for Proto that carries them. Every time I google I can never seem to find a reliable source. Would like to see the models they have avail.

Finished painting my $300 Snap-On toolbox..
Don't worry it's just a HF box, the ****** paint job is because I used Rust-Seal enamel that was has been sitting in my garage for four years and had to get rid of it. I just got tired of looking at the ugly orange-red powdercoating. It was freezing cold in my garage when I was slapping on the paint, and frankly it doesn't really matter what it looks like, cause it ain't like I'm giving tours of my one car garage.

****, for $300 though.... That's a bad paint job but if it was worn down to the metal before, then it'll keep it from getting rusty. Function over form I guess?

It's a Harbor Freight box with a spray job and a Snappy badge stuck to it. $369 out the door new.
Tools-Plus can order them, or you can look up dealers on Proto's website. I have one like 10 minutes from my house.
Nothing fancy here but wanted to chime in. My Steel Glide is my main box, i really like it, anyone know who makes it? The Waterloo holds my Grandpa's old tools and the Craftsman is not very good quality but I bought it cheap on CL to hold tools that don't see much use and storage for paint brushes, putty knives etc.
