Retired my 35+ year old Craftsman, gray with red sliders and sold my 20+ year old Craftsman, red with dark gray sliders.

Found this mint vintage 1984 Snap-On set, KR527, KR537, KR547, and KR557 plus side fold away tool tray for $750 on CL.

A retired Honda cycle mechanic kept it spotless. :bounce:

I've been looking for one of those center sections for mine for a long time.Great box,I've had mine for a long time, ordered 4 new sliders this week and a caster, rep says it'll be warranty.

I see youre in Chicago. UTI perhaps? Where are you working at?

I'm in Triton College, doing the Toyota T-TEN program. Right now trying to find a dealer for the apprentice work part for the second year. We have 'regular' Auto Technology degree, GM and Toyota programs at Triton, but we all take pretty much the same classes, GM guys also have extensive web and video training. I think GM is light years ahead when it comes to technician training, they seem to realize that you gotta start the building process from the foundation instead of the top floor! Now, Toyota is re-structuring their training to keep up with GM! Although I'm originally from europe (yes i think in metric and have an accent:shocking:) and share the common international disinterest towards american cars, i think the worst for GM is over, pendulum is starting to swing the other way.

Doing great in school, straight A's and stuff but the hiring people couldn't care less about the grades or school, everybody seems more interested in how many tires i busted, how many front ends i replaced, etc... I got 4 ASE certs, working on the rest...

I kinda thought it'd be nice to get a manufacturer credential with the 2-year associate degree, since it's free. So, looking for both GM and toyota dealers right now, but even with my instructor's references, no luck so far.

Anyways, here's couple of photos from my last craigslist score, only $45 !
Cleaned it up, lubed the casters, sliders, applied eastwood's rust encapsulator on the bottom, and brushed a little into the stamped date and code... This thing is almost double the thickness when compared to the ones displayed at sears right now. I know i'm too young to say this but sure enough they don't make them like they used to no more! Sadly enough I don't have any extra tools to fill it up, gotta start working on my second set of tools...

is that a krw series riser on a krl 1000 series box? was thinking of going this option with my krl1022[/QUOTE]

Uh, I dunno.:headscrat I think it is a KRWL54** something. I don't remember the exact model number because it was blue when I bought it and I had the painter at work shoot it red. The sticker with the serial/model number is long gone. I can tell you this much, The roller is a KRL1001A, making it 54"X29"X45". The riser is 54"X24"X24" I think. If you're interested, I'll throw a tape measure at it tommorrow at work.

It's kinda hard to see in the pics, but the vise has to be in a certain spot to miss the door. I put witness marks on it for this reason. Just FYI.

Oh, The riser was one of the early, plain versions. I added the aluminum trim to it and the locker. Just a scotchbright pad for the correct grain pattern(close enough anyway) and some clear poly. Feel free to contact me if you'd like more detailed pics.

We sent out my dads old Beach for a paint job. He got this one 24 years ago when he was working for Magna and then used it when he got into refrigeration.

This is a Beach handbox my grandfather gave me when I was in grade 11 auto with a few hand tools, snap on ratchets, sockets, some other really nice old stuff.

One thing that was in there was this tap wrench made by Blue Point that is in nice shape. Does anyone have any idea approximately when it could have been made?

Here's my HF box (oh no!) with my tools. Some old, some new. Only a few snap-on pieces (even a couple of black hard handles), some domestic stuff and some chi-com stuff. All in all, it gets it done for me. I drive a desk professionally, but do maintain a '93 corrado, a '93 F-250 IDI, a Ford 500 and a chrysler minivan with this meager set of tools. Yes, I have plenty of near-empty drawers!

It's nothing like the rest of the collections here, but they do serve a purpose --- as in giving me something to covet, er, I mean strive for...:lol_hitti

I also included a couple of pictures of my "go-bags". I have a general, an electrical and a plumbing bag for the go-to-stuff.

Electric Orange KRL1022 I recently bought for $3K........still need to decide/order/buy new socket/wrench holders and transfer tools from old boxes..............

I was SO CLOSE to ordering the 56" EXTREME combo (Bottom/Top) for $1600, but this came along. Hope I'm ultimately happy with my decision. This should be the last box I ever buy. Would be nice If I can get good resale.

(Picture shows sellers tools, which I did not buy)

Leaning toward the HANSEN socket holders, but like everything else in my life I always procrastinate and can never decide.

I picked up inside my trailer as I figured loading in/out of my pick-up was just too difficult and didnt want to hurt anything/anybody............

Nothing special just a couple old Craftsman. I also have a couple of Kennedy Machinists tool boxes and several other 7 drawer Craftsman boxes.

Nice, JD.. I was thinking "There's more in this guy's car box than my main box!" LOL

The majority of the stuff in the box was bought on sale for 1/2 off it's the only way to go when buying stuff at CT

Who are they, perhaps Elroy? and who else?

Elroy doesn't have any tools. Remember, he had to borrow everything to work on his "high performance twin turbo sports car"

Come on Buck. If you want to see the pictures click on the links.

Like this

Elroy has a few boxes that have been around the block a few times.

Elroy's pleasure.

OK, Time for Elroy to come clean on the contents.

There have been a few other posts in the past as well. They're not the easiest to find.

They are great so far, I wish that they could come in other colors. Like green to match the box. :bounce:

So, Diesel_Crawler, what is that Helix Oxford Mathematical Instrument in the back of that drawer?

Just what comes off the shelf at the store, I use them for drafting and laying out on some of the thinner stainless and aluminum steels I work on.

When did Diesel_Crawer post this pic?

Anymore?

I did an update last night after I added some of the new stuff i bought, Plus i had a better camera. I did not want to make a whole repost for just a few items.

Hi,

How do you like the Snap-on mini screwdriver set?
I was looking at that same set and would like some feedback.

Thanks,
Taylor

Well I have only had them out a few time's since i got them. So far they seem good to me, They clean up well feel nice on the hand; I am able to turn them with oil in my hands well. They look pretty :lol_hitti

I can not really say more then that till I have some time alone with them.. The regular Instinct handles I have are doing well, They do mark a little easier then the hard handle ones; But that is to be expected.

Finally got some good drawer pics.

Its still a little messy from the switch. A combonation of being busy as hell and nightmare wiring jobs makes me not want to spend more time at work then necessary lately.

All my socket rails will be getting riveted to sheets of steel to stay organized better evetually.
