I think I have a problem....All joking aside, I want to sell the Craftsman top and bottom and the Snap on KR-560 down the road and buy a Snap On 96". That's seven boxes including a beat up alltrade used to store paint and random stuff.

I like that proto, is that 24" deep? The KR560 is a nice box, friction slides and all, quite a bit of storage with the thin drawers.

Here's my old craftsman box. I bought the huge $10k craftsman tool set in 08 and the box came with that. It's worked for a while. Too many tools to fit in there now so I'm buying a US general 72" this weekend. I don't need anything fancy. As nice as the tool truck ones are I just can't bring myself to spend $10k on a box for a job that pays 60-70k a year for. That would cut into my bike money lol.

This has been moved a number of times over the years i've had it, never fun or easy. Usually i had someone to help me, but looks like no-one is available this time. I've ordered some more lifting slings so i'm hoping i can move the pieces into/out of my van with my engine hoist. Always removed the drawers before and lifted the empty boxes in.

yea i hear ya, i'm usually moving stuff by myself too.

couple times it's been easy loading it up ( "cheated" and used a forklift)

but unloading it's just me. :eyecrazy:

my last move was my kr550b/555 from our shop back to my garage.

used a bobcat to load, but had to wrestle them SOB's out of the back of my truck.

wouldnt have been bad, except the taller tires and lift on the truck made it kinda PITA, and i was pissed off to start with.... :lol_hitti

I wish mechanics here made 60-70k. If you hit 40 you're about the top end of the pay scale. My new job puts me on 32, which is better than a lot of places. Diesel mechs are 35-40 usually.

Never had the luxury of a bobcat or forklift. Always moved by hand. Take out all the drawers, load the empty box into a van and then stack the drawers. Hardest part is putting the drawers back in without damaging the slides, they get real heavy quite fast!

Damn that *****. I'm in WA the cost of living is fairly high here. I do ok but I'm not rich or anything. I'm a tech for enterprise Alamo national car rental it's a pretty sweet job. Fairly high pay hourly not flat rate and we sell the cars at about 30k miles so most the time it's fairly easy work. We get factory scan tools and service info for Ford, GM, Chrsler and Toyota. We do all the warranty and recall work on them ourselves so we stay fairly busy. I can't complain.

It's the craftsman 1470 piece set. I don't think they even make it any more. I'm a bit of a craftsman fanboy. Most other techs at the shop give me **** for it but I like them as far as hand tools go.

Craftsman 1,470-piece Professional Tool Set includes a 300-piece Base Essentials Set,
198-piece Professional Essentials Set,
189-piece Specialized Essentials Set,
204-piece Advanced Access Pro's Set,
106-piece Advanced Professional Tool Set,
89-piece Specialized Access Professional Tool Set,
83-piece Ultimate Fully-Polished Ratcheting Set,
77-piece Heavy-Duty Mechanic's Set,
94-piece Auto Specialty Professional Tool Set and
130-piece Professional Impact Set.
And the box in the pic above.

New box, the lock is funky... Not sure what I think of that yet.

Bungee organization at its finest

The old box, I need to put a plate and vise on the new one still.

Enterprise treats all of us that came from National like ****. Started with National 9 years ago, never had a raise, and when asked about a raise I was told I was paid too much. In Central Texas I make under $50K a year. I'm the only real mechanic in the shop. Management has no idea how to run a shop, tire machine is broke down, computer system is next to useless, lifts are broken down.

With Enterprise if you don't have a 4 year degree you are treated as a second class citizen.

Man sounds bad. It's not like that at all here I've gotten 3-4 raises in the last year alone and we get yearly raises. Our shop is run pretty well some of our equipment is older but it all works.you guys use service pro? I like the service pro system. We have 7 techs and a lot of lube techs. We are right by seatac airport I think they have something like 12k cars in the fleet there so we stay pretty busy. Guess the boss up here takes care of us pretty well. This is the best job I've ever had way better then the ford dealers i worked at before.

I don't really care for Service Pro, could be a lot better. I made over $80K a year when I a mechanic in Cali. Was making way over $100K a year plus another $50-60K in bonuses as a Fixed Op manager. I had over 20 years at GM dealers was one of 200 World Class Techs.

I used to like my job before Enterprise bought us, now It's just make it a couple more years to retirement. Although it wouldn't take much for me to roll my box out of here.

When I tore all the mucules in my back management thought it was funny that I could barely work. A year later it still is not healed.

had a 56" hf box delivered this morning. I fucked up and ordered it online having to pay shipping + liftgate fees. Initially I was looking for a few months for a nice SO KR box/cabinet setup, but got tired of waiting for a well taken care set. I'm actually very happy with the price paid/quality of the hf box. Spending over a thousand was out of the question, especially for what I do. I'm just glad all my main tools are in 1 box!

Bought this today from an online auction. Locks don't work, all 4 wheels need to be warrantyd, needs some slides replaced, missing most drawer liners, and 2 dents in the front of the top chest. I'll knock the dents out. Paid $2800 for it. It's the Teal color.

Most drawers on right side hold junk right now. Gotta organize more and throw away some stuff.

Also got this Mac box sitting on the side. Holds special tools, lubes, and parts receipts

I had a maximizer roll cab like that a few years ago. Those things are tanks. I used to work industrial field service. The box would get loaded and unloaded into a truck daily for 8 years. Had to weld brackets on the front to put bars down each bank of drawers to keep the drawers shut while bouncing down the road.... The abuse that toolbox took would make most people on here cry. Sold it to a guy at work a couple years ago. I'll snap a pic at work tomorrow and share it...

That is one hell of a good looking box! Didn't know that color existed either. My next box is going to be a triple bay Classic or Masters with the bed-liner as well. Was thinking about gloss or flat black, but I just may have to reconsider now!
