Hi There
Having recently made a some investments in toolboxes, tools and tool organisation which I wanted to share.
I'm a weekend wrencher and was luck enough to get a small Snap On set of wrenches and sockets for my 21st Birthday (over 20 years ago now) and have added to it over time as I needed tools. Some mates and I have recently bought a cheap-arsed race car and are enjoying fixing it up. That, and some spare cash, made me splurge a bit and I'm really happy with the results.
The tool boxes are Sidchrome (a decent quality Australian brand) and purchased from the local Bunnings (think Tool Depot). I used loyalty points from my credit card to get Bunnings vouchers so got about AUD$2000 in tool boxes for free. I would have preferred a slightly different layout with shallower drawers but lack of options a decent price plus the deal; it was hard to pass up!
That let me use the money on more tools and tool storage foam. I have a lot of Snap On and Knipex which both are really well supported by toolbed.com . You just select the brand+part number and they have the shadow outline on their database already. You lay out the foam drawers as you like and they laser cut the tool foam and deliver it. I ****** love it! It makes finding tools easy and makes packing tools away a joy rather than a drag.
Here are some photos and a short video of the drawer with the ratchets and extensions in it. I modified the drawer and built an insert for speeder bars as they take a lot of space.
