Finally finished cutting the liner for the top of my US General 56. Taken me a few weeks to find the time. Came out pretty good, used the Eppco liners. Now I just need to find the time to fill it up!

You better take a few more pictures, so you can remember what it was like when you had room! :lol_hitti

Very much thank you! I've been contemplating a second box and if I do, this is the way to go... Thank you.

I had several requests on my previous post for more info on how I built the hutch for my Harbor Freight 44's. Sorry for the delayed response! I built the hutch frame using 2x3 lumber and covered the frame with 1/4" hardboard. Used 1/4" pegboard for the back. I know metal would be ideal, but I don't have the tools to do metalwork at home... yet.

First, these boxes have a "lip" around the top, not flat, so I bought a sheet of 3/4" MDF and cut 2 pieces to fit inside the lip, laid them down on top of the boxes. This made a flat surface all the way across the tops of the boxes. If you cut very accurately, they'll slip in snugly and don't really need to be mechanically fastened to the box, as the lip around the edge keeps them in place.

For the benchtop, I found a heavy solid core door slab in the "bargain bin" at Menards. The door was a little beat up, so they sold it to me for $10. Took it home and ripped it to size on my table saw. To cover the ripped edge, I bought some metal threshold at Home Depot.

<a href="http://s273.photobucket.com/user/kodiakcc01/media/Toolbox/20170314_222904_resized.jpg.html" target="_blank"><img src="http://i273.photobucket.com/albums/jj226/kodiakcc01/Toolbox/20170314_222904_resized.jpg" border="0" alt=" photo 20170314_222904_resized.jpg"/></a>

Thanks for sharing the whole concept and build. ONE of the very best things about GJ is sharing great ideas about our common interests!

Now THAT'S what I'm talking about! Love it! Lots of SHALLOW drawers for tools, not plastic boxes, wide, and not too tall or deep!

I would swap that for my 18 drawer double MATCO in a heartbeat! I'd re-arrange so that deep drawer was on top doe sockets though!

I suspect it was bought used since he painted it.

Love Lista. Here are some of my collection of them. 81b617be9fe9df56e8b196a333697f8e.jpg806ed46134b60595ce2963e63f00e6df.jpg3eecefc4ba593a0329e9ef93897d59f9.jpg600eaeef048314fe0d2a84020e813644.jpg

Awesome collection of Lista cabinets! How do you like their mobile toolboxes? All of mine are stand alone cabinets

Ours are all fixed. For mobile work stations we use the snap-on epic carts. The lista's are the damper/engine stations for parts and hardware

I get the lista stuff from Motörhead extraordinaire. They are the lista scratch and dent liquidators for the factory. Just gotta be patient.

My new box I got a week ago. Long ways to go to fill her up though. However have most of the basic stuff for my Durango, F250, and Supra. Added a few items since these pictures from last week.

David,I have one like that, if that's the 30" deep one, you will fill it faster than you think lol. What are you going to put in the bottom left and right deep drawers?

The hutch and benchtop are attached to eachother, but are just resting on top of the boxes, I didn't fasten them directly to the boxes. On the bottom/outside edge of the hutch, where it meets the boxes, I drove some large screws through the hutch into the side of the benchtop, just to square everything up and prevent any movement on the bottom sides of the hutch. Everything is solid, no movement, sliding, wobbling, so I don't see the need to fasten them directly to the boxes. Plus, this makes it easy/quick to move everything around. We just bought this house a few months ago, so garage is going to have a lot of changes in the near future.

It's no snap-on or matco setup, but it's a solid 88" toolbox with hutch for under $1000. I've been very happy with it so far! Still need to add some lighting in the hutch, will be browsing the threads for ideas on that :)

Did you use pocket screws on the ends of the frame?

Earl2 we need drawer pics
I plan on reorganizing somewhat but this is a rough idea of what I have. I'd like to convert my deep bottom right drawer to a power/air tool drawer, need to find the holders that mount in the drawer from my franchisee.410948fc4152b864a6095b1546ba9984.jpga9523abdd23f8d7a9d0125128a2b6601.jpg0bd3de963b87a1707dc7836eb74175eb.jpg7d455c57c562fcc07b3ca611939ca271.jpgd1aa57fcda05585b054a30b4fac06893.jpg8af39e39c082b2466146be72a6883b9b.jpgcd0ccab89ec228b8746a2363bafe26ce.jpg8884712fda388cdc1c8ed95ed837cc26.jpg7e0a719e420c5e603ba19d2f19a04694.jpg7df0f213d83d6b6ab747b4b5e6eefb40.jpg

That is one seriously slick tool box!! So space efficient with those shallow drawers..what the heck is it?

that looks the the Map drawers we used to have when i was in the military. You could store full map sheets without folding them. I have been looking for one for a while.

Here is my set up, it may not match but it works for me and for a total investment of $400 I cannot complain.
I picked up the top on CL like new and the Craftsman Industrial bottom on clearance at a sears outlet for 300 with tax.4e3be4eb5d4e2e020f4090b6ccc49dbc.jpg

Nice sound bar.
Thanks, I'm going to split it apart and try getting the FM to work. Sounds like it's a common weakness for them. May have to upgrade antenna or rig something up.

It's a Lista double wide cabinet.
It had several layers of paint when I purchased it.
Stripped it completely down and then repainted with Rust **** Polyurethane Enamel.
Added two 3/8 x 8 steel plates to the bottom and then attached Colson 1000 lb casters.
The drawer slides are somewhat heavy duty as they move on metal roller bearings.
I have a new smaller Lista cabinet that uses plastic rollers and its actually smoother than the metal ones.
Not sure on the metal thickness but overall its a very heavy cabinet when empty.
The drawer faces are pretty thick, I do know that.
I believe the drawer capacity is 440 pounds.
It's of a heavier construction than the blueprint cabinets we use at work.
I have close to 100 drawer dividers as well, it's previous use was for some sort of small tool, specialized carbide insert storage.
Currently making more wrench holders is the reason the wrenches are zip tied together.
Making the wrench holders out of 1/2" plastic with an angle cut.

We just got three Listas in at work. One for each of us to use as a roll around cart.
Once it's all finished I'll get some pics up, I'm still working on getting it organized correctly.
I just installed a ladder holder and now I'm working on a custom name tag so we can tell them apart.

Had to take my 52" bottom to work. This is my conglomeration for home now. Craigslist blueprint drawers. 36x24. 41" craftsman toolbox I have had for ~20 years. And a Jonnesboro labeled 18" deep icebox
