Here's the new deeper Series 2 Harbor Freight box. I still have some things on order, like SO sockets, and Knipex.

Snap on Sockets, Snap On, Armstrong, HF ratchets, Milwaukee 1/4", 3/8" ratchets, 3/8" impact.

Snap On wrench's, Tekton 1/2" impact sockets, Tekton long hex bits. Led Lights.

Pliers. More Knipex on the way.

1/2" Armstron sockets, misc oil change / tire change stuff. Dremel and randoms.

Power tools, and random stuff:

Just bought the bottom box, I already had the top from Home Depot. This will be my new power tools box. Other than automotive impacts.

Nice! Except for all that yellow stuff in the bottom drawer, LOL.

Are those organizer bins tool-specific, or are they generic kitchen stuff?

They’re a set from harbor freight. $7 iirc. I really like that box too. I’m debating if it’ll fit everything I need with a side cabinet or 2.

Here's my comparison from then to now. From 2009. I used to think this was full.

These pictures were lost in the big photobucket debacle, so here's what I could find on my PC to replace them. There were other drawers that I can't find the pictures for. I had a kaizen foam drawer with all the craftsman wrenches and a deep drawer full of more air tools.

I've got a project going on in the garage right now. So the tools are a bit of a mess.

At that time, I had the snap on krl761 above, two craftsman ball bearing rolling chests full of machining tools, parts and junk, two kennedy top boxes full of machinist tools and my original craftsman rally boxes. I worked with those 6 tool boxes for years, but finally I had overfilled them. I sold the two craftsman chests and bought the Snap on KRSC cart below. I sold the Kennedy boxes as I'm no longer machining and sold most of my tooling. So now I'm down to two snap on boxes and my original craftsman rally. I've reorganized things 10 times trying to work with two boxes. While I would rather have one big box, I think I'm finally content with two. The red krl is my "fabrication and rarely used mechanics tools box". Most of the hand tools in it are my original craftsman stuff from the 80's. The cart is my auto repair tools and is full of mostly snap on.

Picked up this Stanley Vidmar unit off a guy who was in the medical industry... apparently they pulled this out of a surgery center a few years ago and it's been sitting in his garage since.

Got it to use to organize all my hardware, etc. It's smaller than most of the tall/deep units so it fits pretty well with standard boxes. 22" deep 39" high... full of the plastic dividers.

My craftsman tool storage setup. Got the 4 big chests 18 years ago last month. The two red/gray side chests I bought a few years later. The bottom left side chest was made by Waterloo for Craftsman. Took me about ten years to find one in that nice a shape. I like to think I've done a pretty good job keeping them exceptionally clean throughout the years. I spray wax everything three times a year too.........lol. I have all the correct pairs of keys for everything, even the tiny little key rings they come on. I have never, not 1 single time ever had any of the keys off their rings. Drawer slides are like new. White lithium grease is the key to longevity. The day I brought the 4 big chests home, I ran to the local hardware store and bought 4, four inch diameter magnets. I have used them since day one to hold on that "custom cover"...... a king size bed sheet.....lol. They're across the back. Not a mark from them. I also removed the original badges and replaced them with the "Craftsman Ball Bearing badge. I think they look pretty sweet......lol.

Just got my new to me toolbox set up. I traded a Yost vise I recently refurbished and $500 for the box. I had the side cabinet, but I built the bottom shelf to make it the same length. I also painted the large locker to match. Added some sticker.

Diesel,

Holy cow, wax them three times a year, good job! I've never been that dedicated to wax anything. Hey, how do you see what's in that top box?

Thanks Z. I’ve seen your set up and know I have a ways to go.

Nice workbench!

Thanks! It was a Harbor Freight, now slightly remodeled.

Unruh,

Looks like a nice organized shop.

Lol, you should see it when I’m not taking pictures for Garage Journal.

Sweet. Nice trade.

Thank You! I’ve been looking for a long time. Glad it came together!

Finally got a chance to reorganize my 1/4" and 3/8" inch socket drawer.
And since my wife bought me some nice Knipex pliers, I went ahead and cleared out a drawer for my nicer pliers. The others are just in a big pile. lol.

The socket drawer looks nice! Be careful with that pliers drawer, the Knipex family will start growing if you aren't careful.

Masterforce 72"... ordered end of April.. arrived last Monday.

The gunmetal/green is actually not a bad color combo. It's a beast. I'll have to do a proper drawer arrangement photo set once I get done really organizing and arranging everything. Fits nicely with the Vidmar I picked up to hold/organize all my hardware and small pieces.

Very nice[emoji481]. I'd be tempted to fab up a subframe to raise the Vidmar to the same height as your new cab to achieve additional storage below and have a level work surface.

Actually I'm tempted to lower the Masterforce using shorter heavy duty casters... perhaps a plate with a set of 4 smaller casters on each end. At 45" tall it's a bit high for a work top.

Also of note.. the Masterforce has the threaded inserts on the bottom "channels" to put a 3rd set of casters in the middle.

Well, I keep the Cobras in the same enclosure with those Swedish nut lathes, and one day I opened the drawer and the Plier Wrench was in there. I'm hoping for another litter in the fall. :lol_hitti

I like your layout also SuperS.
Thanks! It works for me.

Hello garage journal. I found this site because of this exact thread. I was googling toolbox organization and found pictures of some of the amazing set ups on here. We bought a house recently and when we moved to save space I packed every thing that would fit in to my craftsman box and now its in SERIOUS need of cleaning out and organization.

And the most exciting part for me is I I finally have room for my dad's old homemade tool box. It's not a looker, but it's very sentimental. My dad (RIP 1960-2007) was a diesel mechanic for MARTAm in Atlanta working on busses. He had the big gray box and a huge Craftsman chest in top that my younger brother has. The gray box was made by an old man for him when he was hired as an apprentice in 1979 or 1980 and has been in storage since 2007. You should have seen all the stuff in it. Its got a cabinet on each side, two smaller drawers and two larger drawers, and the bottom slides up and is more storage. Here soon I'm going to clean my craftsman box and the gray one up and repaint them both red. I'll post more pics when I get them organized. 0505181911.jpeg0506182025a.jpeg0505181911a.jpeg

Anybody seen this new box w/ 22"-depth at HF lately? 2-3 of these boxes makes a really good setup.
64162_I.jpg
I saw it, I liked it, I bought it.. There's a coupon out there already to bring it to $230..(I blurred out a company logo, it does not have a series 2 badge)IMG_20180522_101932_20180524061107390.jpg

Is that a hf 44" turned into a custom rolling work station ?

Yes that is the 44" I have used them on a couple bench builds. Good bang for the buck but wish they were deeper.

here is the build threads.
