How's that Husky box treating you? I really like the layout of that box but can't decide between it and the US General 72".

I like it! Random thoughts and observations.

- Ordered on home depot website.

- Delivery was fine. They don't call you to coordinate drop off though and won't do much for you on positioning. I did leave a note when I ordered for them to leave the box as close to garage door as possible, which they did.

- no dings, scratches and box packaged well. Very easy to get out of the wood pallet that is attached. One person job to take out of packaging and move around.

- 19 gauge steel. USG may be 18 but 19 good enough for me as a average DIYer. Solidly built but obviously not snap or epiq quality.

- 6 casters, 4 of which are very beefy and work/lock well.

- Soft drawer closing mechanism which is nice and works flawlessly.

- Top and bottom drawers have two ball bearing rails each. The rest one rail. Works for me as the average joe home mechanic.

- the height adjustable top is kinda cool I guess, but don't really see much utility. I'm sure someone could use but I don't really use it.

- the drawer padding is average. Good enough.

Very happy with the purchase and would buy again. I was gonna buy the Costco Bold 3.0 stuff but cancelled last minute and switched gears to this. I'm glad I did. Very happy and would recommend.

I have that same Husky box. I really have no use for the height adjustment either but there is quite a bit of space inside under the top. I use it for rarely used, extra long tools. Or even just very rarely used tools.

Other than the soft-closing drawers, the USG box is a much better-mad box. Have a look at the casters, and extrapolate that to the rest of the box.

It's fine, but if the money is similar USG is doing a better job. I doubt most of us would realistically notice the difference, but...

My new to me Tech Series box. Picked it up recently from someone getting out of the trade. I'm just a home gamer so hopefully this will last a long time for my use.

Discovered a bit of bubbling paint in the bottom corner seams when I brought it home, kinda bummed about that, but such is life when it's used professionally in crummy salty Ontario winters. Sprayed the inside down real good with fluid film for now which should keep anything else from developing. The box is in wonderful shape otherwise.

When I bought it I already had the 56" Husky as well. I went back and forth between Husky and USG. But in both cases I liked the drawer layout better for my use than the US General. I also like the soft close slides.

The USG will be beefier but (1) it stinks amazingly bad, and (2) the QC is terrible. I just bought a USG box and didn’t check it at the store. It’s 1.5 inches out of square and the bottom two drawers won’t open.

The Husky is less solid feeling, but I’m done with USG.

Well on the opposite end of the spectrum, I just picked up a US general 44 inch rolling cabinet and the upper chest. It is very well-built. Perfectly square drawers work nice and smooth. No smell other than a slight rubber smell from the mat on top if you put your nose right on top of it.

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend a harbor freight/US general toolbox anybody. But everybody has different experiences and expectations so you really should go check out yourself in store and see what you think of them

Also, be aware of the vastly different features of the various SKUs. My SKU has the "full extension" drawers which are in actuality just a lot shorter than the other SKU's drawers. My Ernst socket trays required force to fit long ways, where by the specs there should have been a couple inches to spare.

As I said, it is very solid - more solid than anything I could touch at HD. If you get a good one, it's unbeatable for the price - just make sure not to assume that yours isn't a garbage one, because nobody in the supply chain is going to check it before you buy. That's the cost of solidness here.

Feels good to have room. I just expanded myself and damn does it feel good to not have tools piled on top of each other and tightly squeezed in.

Thank you! Lots of info in my shop thread in my signature. I have an adhesive remover. I just haven't gotten to it yet. You'll notice they are clean on the two lower 56" cabinets. Maybe I should get them cleaned up now

so take it back..... I'm not a fan of harbor freight but it is 10x the box any husky is. It was obviously damaged in shipment

I definitely will take it back, and it definitely wasn’t damaged in shipping - unless you think a thin layer of cardboard can survive without any witness mark, a shock that would warp a steel metal box. More likely it was a **** build at the factory and nonexistent QC anywhere in the supply chain.

Added a KR-292A from 1991 to my KR-537D and KR-555D. Desperately needed because I added a compressor and I need space for air tools. All ball-bearing, puts the friction slides in the other boxes to shame!

My "Fake Snap-On" setup... started it with fixing the drawer slides and then threw on some badges that I had from a real Snap-On box, and then added some vinyl just for fun.

So I just bent them to the side and kept bending back and forth until the broke off. And then just light sanded down the spot weld and took touch up paint to keep rust from forming.

Yeah, somebody already started to do that to the bottom drawer, probably to fit some weird transmission tool, but it kind of makes me nervous. I might later, if I get desperate. In the meantime, gotta find another side box!

Monster Kennedy 3412 top chest I picked up today.

33" wide, 18" deep and 20" tall. 12 drawer, friction slide.
No keys and box has a couple issues, but let's just say I got a good deal on it.

I did not anticipate how big it is. Very awkward to 1 person carry due to width, and also the damn thing has to weigh over 100 lbs. It's on a std size moving dolly in the pic.
