Seems I always am in need of additional light in the shop.
Over the years I have picked up quite a few vintage lights I use in various places..

Here are some of my lights, lets see what you have.
I have some other machine lights that I will have to get pics of.

This is my latest acquisition,
It is a floor model Dazor.
My wife came out here tonight and thought it would look better in her sewing room....................it is still in the shop for now

So, what kind of cool old lights are you using?

I have 4 matching lamps and 1 more that is similar except it has a round head. All cleaned up and waiting to go in my shop.

PS - My shop is on hold for now (new baby), so I will sell them for the right price. All have brand new bulbs (was $108 just for the bulbs). The bolts and brackets are stored in bags with each light.

On Sunday I posted some pics of a flexible armed machine light I bought and fixed up. The best picture is below.

Attached at the bottom of this post is a picture of my Incandescent Dazor lamp.

I also have 2 run of the mill Dazor 2 tube fluorescent desk lamps.

I love the magnifying glass Dazor - haven't seen one in the wild yet . . .

Cheers

Jim

PS: Before I came on here - standard desk lamps were fine - now everything needs to be vintage and cool.

Very vintage, always works, even when the power is out.

This is one I recently fixed up for my wife's studio. It was a $25.00 thrift store score. When I bought it, the wheels were crumbling, wiring was hard and crunchy, and it had paint splashed all over it, so I repainted the base and stand, re-did the wiring, and put new casters (just the rubber part) on it. It has a counter weight inside the stand that allows the light to move up and down effortlessly. The solid cast iron base probably weighs close to a hundred pounds. The lamp rotates on the base 360 degrees, the lamp arm moves forward and back, and the lamp shade tilts both directions. All of the movement in every direction is very easy and smooth. I used braided period style lamp cord for the wiring. The last picture of the giant blue mogul base bulb is the bulb that was in the lamp when I bought it. I replaced it with a 67W CFL which puts out a ton of light and stays relatively cool. I have two other different style antique medical lamps that I picked up at the same time I bought this one that I'm eventually going to restore for my shop. They're not quite as fancy as this one, but still very cool.

Here is your third YOU ****!

That light just reeks of photography. The blue bulb is daylight balanced so you could use regular daylight film indoors or mix window light with tungsten without getting the orange/yellow colour cast. The counter weight uses the same system as large camera stands too, like this one:

My prized possecion is a LUXO fluorescent magnifier lamp, I suspect it is somewhere between mid sixties to mid seventies vintage, phenomenal build quality, compared to todays junk. As I get older, and my eyes gets weaker, the more I appreciate the 5X magnification, for intricate work. Another vintage work light that is mainly a conversation piece, is a ROXTON miniature magnetic base lamp, of unknown age, but mainly of unknown original use. My internet search led me nowhere, so if any of you have any clues of its use and its age, I would be most appreciative.

I am building a cabinet for one of our bathrooms.
Our house is an old bungalow so this will look like a craftsman styled column but will actually be for storage and a laundry chute.

Cool thread. Here are my two "floating arm" Dazor draftsman lights. I prefer having the light down and in front of me (as opposed to above and from behind me) if you know what I mean.

Great selection of old lamps here! I really like vintage lighting fixtures...much classier than most of the plastic stuff put out recently.

Here is my dental light, with a custom bracket I built to fit on my tool rack...

Lots of cool old lamps!

I have a couple, and the regular house lamps are gradually getting replaced with vintage or antique lamps through out the house. I find a neglected old gem (or get one given to me.. I'm looking for 2 or the screw on wire/cloth "tulip" shades for a 2 burner my brother and SIL gave me out of her aunt's house...)

An old LUXO Magnifier:

A really cool little 12V "drop light"

My old Vemco drafting machine light (made to clamp to the top of the vertical bar of the machine, but will also clamp to a table) currently in the custody of SWMBO, for her work/art table, but only because I've no good place for it...

This is the floor lamp I have over my left shoulder at my Easy chair "office" I redid the switches as it had been hashed. The chain pulls are not factory, or at least bot both. but it was there and I left it as it was.

Another one that will get all gussied up. I have the bail as of a couple of weeks ago, now I need a small shade that meets with the approval of SWMBO.

I could go on with many more house lamps, but not really on topic...
