I'm a Hobart guy, so my set up includes:

- Hobart 210 MPV (110v/220v)
- Hobart 12ci Plasma Cutter (110v with built in air compressor)
- Mated to a HF welding cart

I'm a hobby welder out of my garage, mostly welding on WW2 Jeeps.

Lets see what YOU have . . .

I have the same welder and cart. I am a very novice welder but I love it. I just scored a brand new spool gun for it off of Craigslist for $180. Excited to try some Aluminium welding, first project is upper spring cups for the rear of the race car.

No plasma cutter, some day!

How do you like that little plasma cutter? How much CFM does it require?

The 12ci has the built in air compressor, so CFM was a non-factor. It does well on thin stuff, I'd say car frame thickness or smaller. Not so much on real thick stuff, but I mainly do Jeep stuff so it fit my needs perfect. I'm not a production shop, just a DIY'er in a garage.

Very cool. Was just looking at the stats, looks like a pretty capable little machine. Garage DIYer here too; I do have a 220V outlet but it's a tiny shop so this thing might be just the ticket.

Did you A/B it against any similar options before you bought it?

There is nothing to compare it to if you want American made in that price point. Sure I could have gone with a cheap Chinese buzz box, but I was looking for something American built with full warranties and consumable products that are sold everywhere. Plus for $529 with free shipping, it was an impossible deal to beat provided you don't scoff at factory reconditioned; which has never concerned me; especially with Hobart who is known for quality and building things like brick $hit house. https://www.hobartweldshop.com/reconditioned-welders-plasma-cutters/

Fun fact- Hobart and Miller are owned by the same company (Illinois Tool Works). That is why alot of the parts interchange. Miller is targeted toward commerical use, and Hobart is marketed toward farm and DIY'er use. Excellent quality with both brands. But with Miller, if your into commerical production, they have higher duty cycles.

This Syncrowavey device sits over in the corner.

And I drag out leads for stick welding to keep the smoke down somewhat.

I got the bright idea to rework this understair junque closet....

and roll out this hibernating machine....

So it fits the closet. It has the exotic setup of a doubled cardboard protector for the paint job lol. Sorry I am not sure if this fits with the compact, well-defined welding setup. But it works for the space and how I use it.

But the closet rework turned out so well that now I want to also put a propane forge in there and a post-vise on a large round-ish base (to also roll outside and use out there). Not sure if there's room but I am well-versed in the 10lbs of schtuff in a 5lb space. :D

Matt has good (but expensive) taste in machines.

Nice set-up bro

I have a weakness for welders. Especially so if they have an engine. My current engine drive is a Miller Trailblazer 302.
attachment.php

I also have an X-Treme 12VS voltage sensing wire feeder for it.
attachment.php

My TIG machine is a Miller Syncrowave 180SD.
attachment.php

I added a Bernard water cooler.
attachment.php

Current MIG is a Miller Millermatic 212.
attachment.php

I also had a Bobcat 225 that was pretty beat; I re-did it with new paint, decals, parts, and all the repairs necessary to make it almost like new.

I got into buying welders and flipping them a few years ago. Had quite a few of them pass through the shop. Even when they were ugly they brought good money.
attachment.php

Had Millers, Lincolns, and Hobarts.

attachment.php

I have a little 240V Lincoln Pro-Mig 175 for portable work, mostly flux-core.

attachment.php

I also have a little Hobart Handler 125 that's really nice when all you have is 120V service.

attachment.php

After 3 other plasma cutters, I settled on a Thermal Dynamics Cutmaster 52.

Love your little Jeep, my brother recently sent me a link to one that was for sale, price was way too high but he sure wanted to build something just to follow me around in my big *** tired bronco.

Wish I could post more here but all I got is a little Miller 175.....

Wow, some great setups!

Little shops like mine need to melt metal too sometimes, but space and money are at a premium. So, the MIG and TIG share a mobile cart and Big Stick lurks in a corner. The welding table sits outside, on wheels so it can be pushed into the shop bay when needed or in good weather I weld outside. Meanwhile it makes a handy flat surface to accunulate "stuff" on and below.

Big Stick is a survivor of the old Borg-Warner plant in Beloit, WI. He was destined for the scrap heap when I threw his bail of $25. He's an old industrial Hobart stick/Heliarc machine. I don't have the Heliarc electrode and helium gas setup, just the stick stinger. He gets very little use, just an occaisional trailer frame. I open the hatch and check for mouse houses before plugging him in and flipping the switch.

Used much more often is Toothpick, my crappy 70 amp stick welder. Toothpick runs on 110V and is my only highly mobile welder. I'd love to have a 110V wire feed flux core Lincoln. I didn't originally post a picture of Toothpick because after seeing all the other fantastic setups I was embarassed to admit ownership, but now my shameful secret's out anyway (hangs head).
