Can't compete with the high rollers who have more invested in their work space than I paid for my whole garage so I won't even try. Most of those guys probably hire someone to change the oil in their lawnmower anyway.. :p (it's a JOKE guys)... Anyway here's my workbench made from the left over pieces of 6x6 posts from when they built my garage and some 2x6 boards from Lowes. Not fancy but it does the job and total cost was around $100  I guess I just like building stuff out of "junk". Here also is a pic of the "bookshelf" in my office.

Don't ever be ashamed about your way of showing off your passion. I see passion and love in your projects. And that's enough.

My workbench is made of mostly 2x6 left over from my building that was used for bracing. It made a great workbench, I was a big time Harry Gant fan quit watching and keeping up with NASCAR when he retired.

But I found the 12 gauge garage and Stevo's bench and now it's back to the drawing board to start over...

Wish it wasn't over 100 here in my garage!:FIREdevil

Dude, you spent a $100 on your work bench. Must be nice to be made of money! Maine's made from old kitchen cabinets with a sheet of MDF for a top. If the prior owner of my house hadn't left a quart of polyurethane and a half gallon of black paint I would have a three tone work bench with a grease sealant.
Instead of whining try to appreciate their work and were possible steal their ideas.
By the way nice book case.

I'm finally at a point with my bench that I'm proud to post it up.

The framework is all 2x4's and the benchtop is an old solid wood office desk. Super solid, and was free. It's a work in progress, as I am always adding features to hold more commonly used tools. The grey paint was a recent addition, and makes it look a lot more finished. I'll post up dimensions if anyone is interested.

Thanks, it took a while to get to this point.

I actually have three of those Kennedy boxes, but I'm not a machinist. That one is my "precision" tool box, stuff like calipers, small screwdrivers, taps & dies. The second Kennedy (not pictured) is for hobby electronics. (And the third is not in use yet as it was a $5 save from a scrap metal yard and needs a paintjob) I have other toolboxes on the opposite wall. (I'll post a picture, but it's not really a workbench).

That's one nice thing about Kennedy's, they don't take up a lot of room but can be tool specific.

I don't think I've ever posted up the one I built in my garage. It's narrower that I would like, but space was at a premium so I made it 18" deep. It was one of the 1st things I did when I bought this house (my 1st). Next house will have a bigger garage and a bigger bench!

Motorcycle guys.
Those home made bike lifts look great but I found a better solution on the net a few years back. There was a guy selling plans to build an all wooden bike LIFT. It looked very sturdy and useable. But the best part, when it was lowered the deck height was maybe 10" or so and it could be flipped on its side and rolled on casters flush against the wall. I will try to find pics and post them.

PS love seeing the bike shops!

Not the best bench around, but the nice thing about it was it cost me nothing. 4x4 posts for legs on a 2x4 frame. 7'Lx2'D. The top is made up of old desk tops, some kind of particle board core but easily replaced/upgraded when the time comes. It was the first improvement to the house after buying it 5 years ago.

No pictures but just picked up new tops for three of my older Craftsman benches. Local Habitat for Humanity ReStore had almost 100 commercial solid core doors donated to them. They were "overstocked" to the point of having pallets of doors staged all over the store. Fire sale priced them at $5 each. I bought 3 that matched (i.e. colour). The 36" x 93" weighs 120 lbs. Will be a huge upgrade from the 20 year old 7/8 in. MDF currently on these benches. Cut them to size and ready to install but have to remove all of the drawers for access so will be a project for next weekend.

Just finished my 2x4 basics workbench yesterday. I made it 2'x7' so that I would have some room for my tool box on top as well as room for pegboard. It came out really good, and was easy to do.

Nice setup, it looks study and functional.

I like the way you have the upper shelf, but can't help think that those posts are bound to get in your way at some point.

Between Greeneville & K-port near Fall Branch. Where ya at ? The Skoal Bandit hat was in a box of Nascar stuff I bought for 2 bucks at a yard sale. There were about 5 different Skoal Bandit hats, 2 of them autographed by Harry Gant. We also go to Kingsport Speedway now & then which is run by Robert Pressley, another Skoal Bandit driver. Been around racing all my life and collected alot of stuff. Just hung my dads old racing suit & helmet from the late 50s in the garage a couple days ago. The suit is just a cotton jumpsuit made by a company that sold racing stuff in the 50s and the helmet is a military surplus Gentex brand he bought at some government surplus auction. Times sure have changed as far as safety equpiment. Here's the suit and a pic of dad (on the far right) at Daytona in 1959. He raced a 56 Jag and was also there with the guy who drove this car. A Jomar hand built racecar from Manchester NH. Thanks guys for all the positive comments. I was joking about my stuff being made of junk of course. I'm just cheap... LoL

Not in a garage, but hopefully still OK to post... It's the start of my underground sh*t shack of a workshop (aka a cinderblock formed room in a corner of the basement of my house).

That looks like something out of a SAW movie franchise. :bounce:

What kind of work do you do in there?

:D ... now that you mention it... it was pretty scary down there!

It's the workshop where I do pretty much everything for the house, which I have re-built in place over the past 2-1/2 years. Now that the house is in shape I really keep intending to clean, organize and upgrade, but I've been a slacker... maybe this will motivate me ;)

Here it is today... pretty much the same except that I pulled the concrete ceiling down over half of the room (what a job that was!), added several T8 fixtures within the joist spaces, a dozen outlets on the ceiling for power and added a 2nd workbench which I bought from an office that was downsizing...

Original Bench:

2nd Bench (ridiculously messy):

Here's mine. Incredibly messy right now. I am in process of redoing the garage and there is a ton of stuff just thrown in. Top is 3/4" ply on top of 3/4" OSB
