Last night I put on the final coat of Danish Oil on the bottom/sides...

Tonight the legs and PSU were reinstalled.

Tomorrow my neighbor is helping me flip it over so I can wrap the sides in solid hickory, route the grooves for the heavy duty T-Track, and get the final coats of Danish Oil on it. Once it's in it's new home in my basement, I'll start planning the attached chest of drawers that will be attached to the bottom of the bench.

Behind my bench top is the little (2'x4') manually adjustable height work table I'm building for my mom. Her's just needs to be wrapped in solid maple and finish oiled.

Then I need to tackle my steel work bench in the background. Need to get it cleared off, mount my vise, and get it bolted to the floor.

Finally built a work bench for my new barn/shop today. I got the pallet racks up last week, so I was able to start clearing things off the floor. That gave me the room to build a work bench. It's up against the outside of the shed (which is inside the barn). I'll build another one inside the shed next.

A couple pictures of my work benches. the small one is 36" high X 24" wide X 6 feet long. The two bigger benches are both 36" high X 32" wide X 6 feet long. There is a 32" gap between them to hold my new mitre saw. The small bench only has 1/2" spruce plywood and it's for the automotive side of the garage. The two big benches right now have 5/8" fir plywood, but I will be adding 13-ply 3/4" sanded on the tops and then probably just 3/8" G1S on the shelves to give a better finish.

These are the first benches I've ever made. They aren't the greatest, but they are heavy and strong!

In upsizing my shop I downsized my benches to one major one. That way I keep it clean and don't keep tossing stuff onto it. This has worked well for me for 6 mo. Fingers crossed. Oliver oc3 pto on there atm, soon to be off of it!

Finally got something started in the new garage. I pickled up the small shelf with wall cabinet a year ago. Just got the big shelf unit and desk. Plan on using this for small work, guns, soldering, etc... Look at all those adjustable shelves to place ongoing projects. Good spot for a computer and other reference work. I'll probably put an old computer chair there. The desk is just a cheap Sauder type but the cabinets are custom built commercial type. Pure luck how well it matches. Oh, and all free.

Still need to build a proper workbench and assemble the other real garage cabinets. It's a work in progress.

Built this bench with my dad and had it in the spare bedroom of my old apartment. Have since moved into my first house and actually have space to utilize it (once I get all of the **** off it).

L: 73"
H: 36"
D: 28"

Top thickness: 2"

4 x 4 legs with 2x4 reinforcements under the shelf and the top. Top is solid and I estimate it weighs over 100 lbs.

Finally I had some time to assemble my new workbench:

A 2 meter wide Malow with 40mm. multiplex top.
It is very stable!
The lower shelf still has to be delivered as it was not in stock while ordering.
Next thing to do is to attach the Ridgid vise to it which I only put loose on top now.

I just picked this up from an old closing down fab shop. It is a really solid bench. 30"x67". The top is only 3/16" but i can always upgrade it later if need be. It has a few coats of chipped up paint I will strip off. i also have a few improvement ideas i would like to implement. Really happy with my find!

Im not sure what a good price would be, they wouldn't budge on $250 so thats what i paid. Probably weighs about 300lbs

I have a couple of shops and several benches but this one is my favorite because of its history. It is just a simple 2"x4" bench made from old plans in Popular Mechanics that I built in the early 1980s. It traveled with me all through my military career, my dad had it for years when I was over seas, and it has so many scars and has has soaked up so many different fluids over the years it has taken on a very pleasing patina.

There is an old mounting point where it used to have a wood vise, it has mounting holes from vises of the past, there is a carving in one leg from an old friend since passed and it is just the simplest thing ever but I would never part with it. I was a young man when it was built and I still chuckle at its crudity but it has held up and it gets heavy used as a project disassembly /assembly bench.

I got the same exact thing about a year ago from a local map company. Free, just needed to haul it away. But I use mine for some old-school drafting I do here and there.

Epoxy after 30 minutes. Filled the surface well as I had a 2 foot section glued to the end for a longer table.







This electrical outlets is awesome. Folds down flush and still allows the power cords to be plugged in.

So ive got a line on about 20'x30" stainless i believe its basically from food prep tables so not hte heaviest of gauges but i wanna use it for my bench. Ill put 2 layers of 3/4" ply under it so it will be solid. i worry about it denting. I wont be doing really any heavy work on it as i have a small mobile fab table i use for the heavy stuff. ive seen some of you guys use stainless also just looking for input.

My garage is built on a sloped asphalt driveway. At only 8' wide I have no room for a fab table to weld projects on. I have 2 - 42" roller cabinets side by side and decided to put a steel top over them so I'd have a steel topped fab bench. I also use light duty receiver hitch mounts though out the shop and wanted to incorporate them in the bench top. I removed the wheels as I needed to keep the height down and made a level grout pad on the asphalt. I then made a frame on top of both cabinets with 1/4"X2" angle supported on the ends by 2"x6" tubing. The cabinets will also bear some of the weight. A grid made of 3/4" tubing sits on top of the benches to spread the weight evenly (not shown).

Next I made the top with more 1/4"X2" angle along the length and 2"X2" tubing crossways on 12" centres. (pic shows cabinets with wheels still on). The square tubing is what contacts the sub frame laid on the cabinets in the 1st photo.

The bench is now 2" lower than the cabinets were with wheels and I need 1 more piece of tubing for the closest end. The top is made of 1/8"x20"x24" sheets of steel with a 1/2" space between them. In this space are welded 1/2" coarse threaded nuts for hold downs (on 3" centres). As I don't use the hold downs often and wanted a smoother surface, I laid another layer of 1/8"x20"x24" sheets on top without the 1/2" open slot so it's smooth all the way across. The top layer of steel sheets are just taped in place and if I want to access the hold downs I have to remove these top pieces. In future I may drill 5/8" holes through the top layer above the threaded nuts and tack the top layer in place but I'm happy with this for now. The overhang on the front is 2" so it doesn't hinder access into the top drawers hardly at all.

I'm brand new here, but I'll post my bench. My shop is currently in the laundry side of our finished basement. Kinda cramped with the W/D and HVAC in there, not to mention my network rack. But it's served me well so far. I'm slowly starting to finish our detached garage and hope to have moved most of this gear and more there by this time next year. But might keep this spot for non-woodworking projects. Electronics and what not.

Just a cheap HD folding workbench. But I've really enjoyed it. Pretty good deal.

Best part about this spot is because I work from home, I can sit down here and tinker, while keeping an eye on email/Slack and my coworkers are none the wiser.
