Skookum brackets from Eastwood Garage for my first ever bench build! The previous bench was a door supported by two 2x4s nailed to the block wall and a PVC pipe leg epoxyed to the unsupported corner...

Bought a house last September with a 26x24 attached garage, now that spring is here it's time to get started on a workbench. So far I have this design, 10' wide, 30" deep, and roughly 42" tall. Constructed with 4x4 legs, 2x4 and 2x6 framing, 3/4 plywood top, and 1/2 plywood shelf.
Thoughts, Ideas?

That's similar in style & construction to one I built last summer. I am *very* happy with it--strong as an ox, looks good, works great. I think you will be happy with it.
Mine is 12' wide, about 30" deep, 30" tall. All 2x6. No back shelf, as it backs up to a wall, so I used pegboard.

I can't tell from the design but make the top overhang the frame for clamping. Mine is a layer of 3/4 ply with a 3/4 later of MDF on top. I have beat the hell out of things in my vise and no issues. I screwed the MDF down from below so no screws visible on top. Edge is routed over round and flush with ply layer.

So who know's anything about this beast. Was told it was from England...no way to confirm. No names, patents, numbers, etc...

4 hardy holes that are different sizes from each other. Smallest just under 1 1/2 inches, largest around 2 inches.
Weight = heavy...I'm guessing more than 250 lbs.

I was concerned about it being 37" high but not after I've used it a couple of months.. The 3/8" x 2 1/2" angle iron around the edge has been very handy for clamping.

LowCheve: nice looking bench and I really like that you built it with bolts in case you might want to change it up later.
ALL: speaking of bolts and nails do any of you use NAILS TO BUILD STUFF NOW? I'm really a fan of tork screws and the 8 prong spider bit and screws is really becoming a favorite for putting some large pieces of lumber together.

So, I realized I have fallen woefully behind in providing workbench pics. I have 3 workbenches, although many won't count the workmutt, so we can ignore that one.
This is my old workbench, shown previously. It has been widened by 12", had an 1/8" thick steel plate (or is 1/8" still in the "sheet" category??) added to the back, all of the stretchers have been raised, and it's now has a lift kit. There is still a Record QR woodworking vise on it, on what is now the back side, as I use this for metal work.

Here is the new workbench, a Split Top Roubo. It is @9' long, 28" wide. The top is 4" thick hard maple, the base is soft maple. Accent is provided by purpleheart. It has a Benchcrafted Crisscross Leg Vise and Benchcrafted Wagon Vise. The first two pics were when it was almost complete. Since then, a cabinet that sits under the back slab has been added for tool storage, the center gap has two filler pieces that can be removed, and a sliding deadman has been added. The third pic is it completed, in use sometime in the last couple of years.

Just finished a mobile work bench. 6 1/2 foot bowling alley top gives me a good work surface for restoring my over 100 vintage post drills and allows me to display 3 of my patternmaker vises -- an Oliver, Emmert and a Yost.

Droach: love the bench and wondering if you had a build thread or more pictures of it during the process of making it? it's about perfect for me and if I could figure out how to put my table saw in it all the better cause i'm lacking extra floor space.

Unfortunately I don’t have progress pics. I had my local welding shop weld a 3 1/2 by 6’ frame out of angle, added a set of 600 lb each rubber cas casters, a four drawer tool box (without the wheels) and built the rest of from there.
