I hung closet maid across 30ft wall, I am happy with it.

To answer questions, yes cut to length with bolt cutter, then rubber cap on end.
also can vary the depth by changing supports so recesses can be mad flush with other shelves. As to putting smaller items Rubbermaid sells shelf liner made to fit the shelves.

I used the fastrak system, making it easy to modify. Then if you can buy a closet kit to start and add/subtract parts it is cheaper.

Lastly I wait till Menards has 11% rebate as Rubbermaid/Newell/ClosetMaid all think a lot of their stuff.

I'm not clear on how you can vary the shelf depth.

John the shelves are available for various depths 6, 9, 12, 16 & 20 are standards and they all match if you select and stick with a single pattern. I have installed the system with spacers behind the shelftrack and uprights so that the fronts were all face matched.

What's the purpose of the "Hang Track"? If you have vertical standards, what does the horizontal hang track do?

It allows you to place the uprights wherever you want instead of only on a stud. Also makes mounting the uprights super fast. I usually don’t use the hang track, instead I screw the uprights directly to studs. However, it takes longer to get the tops level so your shelf slots line up, if you don’t use the track.

Just finished the last polyurethane coat on the bowling alley benches.
Put the new ICON tool chest between them
The old library card catalogue in the corner
and the old blueprint cabinet below the window

I’ve updated my wall storage. Made several hammer racks out of scrap metal and several out of rebar.
Made custom wall hooks as well.

Astro, mv213 is spot on.

I was able to hang the vertical where I wanted them without a stud. Then I used hollow wall anchors with a 100lb capacity for the vertical attachment. Came out nice and tidy. If you install the hangtrack up high enough you may be able to attach it to the top plate with a good quality fasteners.

Done, done, and done.

The shop is 2300 sq ft: high bay is 48' x36' (with 14' ceiling) attached with a walk through to as 24'x24' storage room with 10' ceiling. Do you believe that I think it's too small -- -- and I just got started restoring my XKE.

Here's mine. I laminated two layers of shop ply with West Systems epoxy to build the carcass. I had a buddy weld up the brackets for the casters. It's a beast. It rolls well once the wheels are going in the right direction. I just chock the wheels when I don't want it to move.

No, it's a knock off. It works OK. I thought I would use it more but now I'm actually thinking about removing it and putting a regular vice there. I have a really neat old vice from my Godfather's farm.

Oh interesting. I have not seen a knock off one. My next question was going to be how you liked the Emmert and if it was as good as all the hype. They sell for crazy money.

It's come in handy on a number of projects. It's great to hold odd shapes. But overall I would be happy with a regular woodworking vise like the one on the end of the bench. That one is a quick release. which is very handy.

I have an Emmert on my bench at work. It feels tighter and solid. We don't do much pattern making or wood carving any more and no one else wants it at work. It's kind of sad.

If you do furniture with carving or odd shapes a lot. It's definitely worth it.

As far as the hype, to quote Spock "After a time, you may find that having is not so pleasing a thing after all as wanting. It is not logical, but it is often true."

I've only got one together so far but also only have half my garage cleaned. I bolted the bins down and just used a large C clamp on the vice for now.

Here’s a bench I just finished for my son in law. The file cabinet I bolted in as a low budget tool storage.
made from 2’ square stock. Has adjustable pads on the legs. The vise is removable with a pin on an old trailer hitch

my wife does metal sculpture, I do cars, as her skill sets improved so did the necessity for better equipment. I built this four foot by six foot fab table using 3/8 steel for the top, the rest was sourced from our "inventory" I can move it around by jacking it up on one end with a tongue hitch on one end and castors on the other, electrical outlets on all four corners, two inch receivers to hold other tools (benders, vise etc) on three sides, a "rack" to hold grinders and one leg is adjustable because our floor is good but not perfectly level. My wife suggested adding a perforated metal shelf to store tooling...plus the dust just filters through. We've used it almost six years and the only change was to change one of the four outlets from a "two" plug to a "four" plug I don't think we only used the mobility feature when we moved it into place.
