Wow ! I remember seeing this thread way back, but didn't subscribe. Everything you've done looks great. As a carpenter, I truly appreciate the efforts you have put into preserving your barns. Another GJ project I wish I had been able to work on. Big pat on the back for you, sir !

Not much else going on right now compared to last year when we were readying the barn. Just kind of taking it easy and doing some smaller indoor things.
I did get my small barn cleaned and somewhat organized to use as a workshop again. Don't want to get too carried away on it just yet until we find out how our zoning permit goes for the barn.

Happy Holidays ya'll!! This was us getting a tree in 15

3 months and no posts. No wonder That I haven't seen your thread for a while.

Come on Homebody show us your little projects too

I know, pretty pathetic huh?:wtf:

Honestly I didn't do much of anything over the Winter as I have no heat in any of my shops and it was a pretty brutal Winter to do anything for more than an hour or so out in them. So after a long 2 years of the barn project I just decided to take it easy!

Meeting with the county on turning the barn into a venue went well and the building inspection also went very well! All I have to do is add 2 paved handicap parking spots and a sidewalk, Exit lighting and swap out a sliding door for some French doors.
That was going to commence shortly but now I have to have a Full Knee Replacement in 3 weeks so there goes that..

I do have a couple of neat little projects that I'll work on while recuperating that I'll post up when the time comes. Be nice to get back outside doing something!

Thanks for checking in Don, I appreciate it!

That's surprising because old trucks seem to be all the rage these days with decorating and stuff. We get requests from people wanting to take pics by it quite often.
Keep after her...lol Good Luck!

Wow, great thread! I grew up in central IL (between Springfield and STL) our family farm had a huge barn like yours, and I remember playing in it until we lost it to a lightning strike when I was about 10. Anyway, beautiful place, and great work. Happy belated anniversary to your daughter and her Devil Dawg!

Hi Blue! Sorry for such a long delay. Yes the knee is doing great, thanks for asking! The fact that they are just now finishing corn in the fields tell ya how crazy of a year it's been for weather!:wtf:

Wow, no thanks, one is enough! Sad that there are so many that could use help!

Very nice work! I’ve been contemplating what to do with mine. Great vision.
Thanks! Do something that makes you happy!!

Merry Christmas
Thanks Don, I appreciate you taking the time to check in!

Thanks everyone for checking in. Sorry for such a delay in posting anything. I mean, if Don has time to simply wish me a Merry Christmas then I have no excuse for not posting more. He's a very busy man!!

It's been a weird year with the knee replacement and other stuff going on. That put me out of commission pretty much from Memorial Day to Labor Day due to some early complications. I didn't start Physical Therapy until week 7! It's doing great now though so all is good.

Haven't really done any major or minor for that matter projects to show ya but I'll be starting a few in the coming months so stay tuned. We have a few finishing touches to put on the barn before we start hosting events in August. I also need a new workshop as my current space in the small barn is going to be turned into a bridal suite and restrooms over the next two years, so a lot of stuff coming up to keep us busy.

I wish you all the very best health and happiness in the coming New Year!!

Fantastic thread, great work on all your projects. Idle hands are the work of the devil, right? With all you have going on there is no time to be idle is there?

Also, with such an appealing place to hang out, how do you not have groups of guys coming by daily just to sit around and talk man stuff? Y'know, you could start a "barn yard therapy" side business there. Everyone comes BYOB (bring yer own booze) limited to half a liter at most. Everyone must CICO (Carry In Carry Out, meaning clean up after yer own ***).

Hi guys, damn its been awhile!
Life goes by so fast. Haven't done a ton of projects as we've been waiting on permits from the county since March....:headscrat

Anyways, if you recall the corncrib that was used as my escape cave looked like this.

While it was cool as hell - it never got used much the last 3 years and I have no other heated out buildings so I decided to switch it back to a working shop.:willy_nil

Out came the furniture, flooring and any other thing that took up floor space sans the TV. Then I grabbed some of the old train tables my FIL had made and didn't use and made a work table.

Had this old aluminum faced sign material laying around so I put that on top as a work surface.
50616980353_77861d9086_z.jpg20201111_180940 by Laine Olson, on Flickr

Then cleaned up and rearranged the rest of the shop.
