Looks like a great place to hang out this winter.
Will be checking in to see what comes out of your play pen

Don
Thanks Don, EXACTLY what I was thinking!!

In fact, I've already finished one project.
I've been looking for a couple years now for an oil can display to set out by my pump island but had zero luck finding a Texaco one.:dunno:

When I came across this Castrol one at a super cheap price I said wth, I'll make my own.

Stripped it down, repainted it in white and silver, then fired up my vinyl cutter and made a stencil to put my own idea on it.
.:)

You do awesome work! Love what you have done.
Thanks, Great looking barn there!

Here's a project coming up. Been looking for one of these also and finally found one! Relatively straight and complete. Can't wait to get this one done.

And another one in the pipeline. Not much to do on this myself as I'll just send it out to get blasted and powder coated. Then I'll paint it to mimic the Shell Oil logo.

I've been on the look out for some of those shell chairs for quite a while but no luck yet
The coke machine has also been a dream of mine but haven't pulled the trigger on them when they have come up because I have Too many other project sitting around here.
I'll just live through you while you restore yours OK?

lol, The Shell chair literally popped up at a flea market 3 days after I seen the idea on here back in May. $15 and in my truck! Fate.

The Coke machine came from a friend who has an extensive Coke collection and I just happened to be the first to see him list it around midnite one night. I've scored a lot of things at that hour.:dunno:
Doubtful, but I hope I can do it the same justice as your caliber of work Don
.

I love this thread so much! Thank you for sharing.
Thank you so much, appreciate it!!

Your "new workspace" looks great!

Good to hear your knee replacement went well and you're posting again. I'm interested to see how the bridal suite progresses!

...D
Thanks, So am I, although at the rate the County is moving that may be awhile - if ever. Either way, something will be done with it.

Thanks for stopping by the barns guys! The wifey has me working on a Christmas Tree lot today - pics to come!

The barn looks great! Awesome job on the oil display rack restoration too.

I'm interested in knowing more about your vinyl cutter and software?

I have saved this picture for a long time now, thinking I would do one of these if I ran across a shell chair someday :pimpflash

Just stopped in to wish you and your family a happy thanksgiving.

Thank You so much Don! I hope you and Ann had a great Thanksgiving weekend also!

My wife kept me busy the week before Thanksgiving by saying she wanted a tree forest for our stock tank display. :dunno: Whatever you say dear...
We had a ton of lath from our kitchen remodel project and this took up most of what was left of it.

I made 5 different types of trees of various heights.

This one is my favorite and wish I had more lath as I could have sold 2 dozen of them by now!

Ok, they were just slow to upload this morning.

I then took the trees and sandwiched them between a couple of 2x4's. After that it was just a matter of carrying the completed "forest" out to the stock tank and screw it to the existing shelves in the tank.

Added a few real trees to the mix, And BOOM! Happy Wife! This turned out pretty sweet and makes another great Christmas picture spot.

I should add, this is the second display we've had in this stock tank since we put it there in October. Should be fun coming up with ideas to change it for the Seasons!

I'm interested in knowing more about your vinyl cutter and software?

I have this setup here.
https://signwarehouse.com/products/...ftware-sign-supplies-1?variant=28370509693021

The software that comes with it does the job for basic simple lettering jobs. All artwork that is cut has to be vector art and this software will allow you to import other files as well.

I do a lot of custom stuff also where I'll trace a logo or picture but I do that in Corel Draw then export it to use in the LXI software. A simplified version of Corel is available at Best Buy for about a $100.

https://www.bestbuy.com/site/corel-coreldraw-essentials-2020-windows/6410179.p?skuId=6410179

Being in the graphic arts field my entire life I've accumulated a lot of other software also such as vehicle templates, business logos, sports mascots, etc and if I don't have it I can usually create it.
I was in it full time with my own business for a few years and now wish I had stayed at it but needed the health benefits, so now I just dabble in it part time as requested.

The plotter above is by no means the best available on the market but great for a beginner or to use in a shop like you would want to at a low entry price.
Supplies for it are available from the same supplier or numerous others. I get a lot off Amazon now.

Certainly not a must have piece of equipment for the garage but sure comes in handy when needed and opens up a lot of other options when restoring or creating stuff that one would otherwise pay others for.

Laine, I really like those trees you made. I may have to steal this idea and I don't even usually decorate for Christmas 🎄

Been hanging out here at your farm since you posted in my thread. Great work! Makes the small cosmetic resto I did to my barn look like small potatoes. Hopefully soon it will be able to start paying you back. Also I liked seeing the house renovation pictures. I am currently renovating the kitchen on my old house and seeing you knee deep in rotten floor joists was exactly where I was last month. Owning an old farm has its challenges for sure, but I think it is all worth it.

Started on this project a couple weeks before Christmas to whittle down the "to do" corner of my shop! This is a vintage 1965 era Micro Precision M-60 bubble wheel balancer I picked up a few years ago for about $30 if I recall.
I'm gonna repaint it and mount a wheel/tire to the top of it (semi permanently) along with a glass top so it can be used as an end table or just a room piece to display things on.

Recreated the decal and put the vinyl cutter to use again, cleaned and polished the wheel/tire setup, added the glass and we'll call this one done and on the market! Pretty happy with how it turned out!

Best part is it still functions as a balancer. Push the handle down and the wheel will sit there and wobble gently (watch your beer..lol).
Wheel is just sitting on 5 wood dowel pads and removes easily if someone wanted it for it's intended purpose instead.

Hi guys, been awhile!
Now that using our barn as a wedding venue has been kaboshed by bitchy neighbors and a county board that hates small business I have a lot more time to work on my endless projects that have been accumulating. WooHoo!
You remember the Shell chair I bought cheap at a flea Market last year? Just finished it. Real easy as all I had to do was disassemble it and send it to the powder coater.
51310609892_37af5b3574_z.jpgFB_IMG_1626118386311 by Laine Olson, on Flickr

Here it is after I got it back.
51310609467_aa2dff22a6_z.jpg20210713_173717 by Laine Olson, on Flickr

I ended up doing all the striping and lettering in vinyl as that's what I know and I don't have a pinstriper at call like Don does..lol
Being that it'll be indoors 90% of the time it should still outlast me and if not I'll just do the red again.

Like those drive in speakers I'm converting to bluetooth... getting there.

I missed your post on the tire balancer back when. Boy did you make that look easy. Nice job Laine. I just took your shell chair picture and added it to my file so I can do the 3 I just picked up the other day (THANK YOU)
We sure have the same taste in projects. I have a balancer that I have been wanting to do for a year or so and now with your push I may get on it soon. I'm just finishing up that 17' goodyear sign and am looking at what will be next.

Very cool. I love the chair.

Here's a goofy *** project that will serve me well at flea markets and swap meets - and it doubles as a walker!:lol_hitti
I'll just let the pics do the talking. No fabrication to the stroller, still functions as one if need be. :headscrat:dunno::bowdown:
