My lift arrived and was installed today, got a Mohawk System 1 10K lift which is identical to the one OldCarGuy has, in fact seeing the pics of his & reading the review he did was what gave me the idea that this was the one i wanted. The install was about 4 hrs start to finish by people who do this sort of thing all the time so the 300.00 cost of installation was money well spent. They worked the bugs out of it, about all I did was the electrical hookup. Called my buddy after it was in & he brought his Dodge 3500 extended cab dually diesel truck down & ran it into the air no problem, weighs 7500 lbs so my vehicles will be a cake walk for it. Everything went well with the install, only thing is that the plug that comes with it is for 3 phase & calls for 12-4 wire where if I had it to do over would have bought 12-3 instead. This is going to be 10,000% better than having to do everything with car ramps & jack stands.:):):)

WOW. Either he is a really good buddy or not too smart :bounce: I'll have to remember this testing technique when I install my lift. I wonder if this thing will fall over --- not to worry, I call a buddy and test it with his vehicle.

Seriously, congratulations! I look forward to the day that I can quit squirming around on my back under cars, tractors,....

Way to go Steve!

Glad to hear that the install went so smoothly. But what better way to test a new lift than on someone else’s truck. Why didn’t I think of that? Now lets see some pictures…

Judging by your talk about the casters, am I correct in the assumption that a 4-post lift can be used without being fastened to the ground?

Great pics of the lift. I also like your space. Plenty of room to work on things. Anyway, my friend has a Mohawk 2 post and he's been very happy with it too. Congrats!

Steve:

Mohawk must have added a safety guard over the chain rollers. Along with adding a cable to the left of the lift cylinder. Is that small cable for a safety or something to do with the mechanical release.

It has something to do with a safety, as you lower it if that cable gets hung up on something it stops it and prevents it from going any lower. This was one of the things the installer worked on for a bit to get right. Having 27 yrs of experience vs me who would get frustrated & not have a clue as to why this was happening is a major part of why I wanted someone who knows the lift to do it, probably best 300.00 I spent. Tomorrow I can try to get some pics of where it goes, kind of hard with the arms down.

Don't be so selfish - did you miss that day in Kindergarten?!:bounce:

Selfish, how is my statement selfish?? More like your rude, Steve comes here to show every one HIS new lift, and you post 10 huge pictures of you lift in his thread. You do know that there is a button you can press to start your own thread about you new lift too??

BendPak is not Canadian. The HO is in California. Mine was shipped from there to a dealer in Vancouver, Canada (BABCO) then to me in the Prairies. I did my due diligence over several months and went with BEndPak for several reasons (safeties, steel quality, experience, customer satisfactions..).

Was that Bendpak model made in China?

Nice lift! After a quick internet search, I didn't see any dealers listing prices... mind if I ask what it cost? You wouldn't by chance know what the A7 sells for as well?

I'm jealous!

I got mine for 5279 installed including tax, delivery, installation, and the safety weight gauge which runs 75.00. I was told that the ones he has in stock will be this price but that the next shipment will be approx 8-10% higher due to increases in the cost of steel, shipping, etc. When I first called him I asked about the A7 and it was around 500.00 cheaper but did not get a specific price as I was planning on getting the System 1.

Thanks. All that I could find was the suggested retail, and I did see that the A7 was only a couple hundred cheaper, I would spend the extra money for the System 1 as well.

Steve, You’re a better negotiator I and or Mohawk reduced the price of their lifts. I paid $5,850.00 including shipping more than two years ago. And that didn’t include installation, I installed it myself..

Thanks for putting up the photos of the safety release mechanisms. Looks as if Mohawk completely redesigned them in the past two years. The older design was tough to setup; but work very well.

Steve, I just got a quote for $6250 with a $575 install (not including tax). So $5279 is an outstanding price. Where did you get such a good deal ?

I got mine from All Automotive out of Nunica MI. When I called to order mine he had 4 in stock and told me that the price was what I got on the ones in stock but that the next batch would be more as in 10% or so more. Contact Mohawk and ask for the distributor in your area as they all have sales territories. Most likely your quote was for one of the new batch as steel prices have went thru the roof, had an article in the paper the other day about that & there is a lot of steel in one of these. I'm fortunate the wife agreed to order one before the price increase.

When I talked with the sales manager from Mohawk last week, he confirmed that $6,250.00 is the latest price as of last week. Increased because of recent steel price increases. He said that the price is the regular discount given to government facilities. And that would be the price I would receive including freight to my door. Purchasing straight through the factory and no installation. He explained that Steve’s distributor cut him a real deal. As he must have purchased a large number to be able to pass on that kind of savings. A group purchase direct to the factory may yield the same pricing...

That was some discount. Unfortunately after looking at these lifts I don't think I could get anything else.

Wow, sounds like more than a 10% increase, more like a 20%:shocking: The guy who put it in told me they do a lot of them which probably explains how they can do this. They maintain an inventory of cylinders so if someone has a problem or needs one rebuilt they do an exchange then send them to mohawk when they get a pallet load which makes it cheaper than an individual shipping their own cyl back. Was REALLY fortunate on this, usually wind up ordering something right AFTER the price goes up.
