Posted a reply to a more general post in General but thought it would be better in Electrical - so I got a lift, 2019 Atlas PVL10, that I am going to install. I like the idea of a cut-off switch at the post - bought a Powertec paddle one: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CL4YW7R3/?tag=atomicindus08-20
The specs are:
  • SPECIFICATIONS: Dual Voltage: 110V/220V; Single Phase | Rated Current: 28 amps(or 2HP) at 120V, 16 amps(or 3HP) at 230V | Fits deep gang boxes and standard gang boxes with extension ring
I have an Ally AL2850 power unit - and here is the info:

So I run 10 AWG wire to my ceiling already and plan to continue that to the power unit to the switch. I figure since others are running this on similar lifts, it is fine - but wanted to be sure. Since the switch is rated for 16A at 230V and the motor's full load amp (FLA) at 230 is 16.9 **technically** I am over with the motor but because the load is not continuous - 52-58 seconds that makes it fine? Is my logic accurate or do I need to find another switch?

Thanks!

Hp rating is 2hp. What is your motor?

Personally I wouldn't buy something like that off Amazon

That switch is fine for your lift motor. The rewritten amazon specs are incorrect. The amp rating is 20A @ 230v.
