Lift installed

On Friday I had a Direct Lift Pro 9D lift installed. The lift was installed and purchased through a Benco Equipnment, they are a local distributor for Direct Lift. The sales guys and the MN warehouse manager were really helpful. The manager for the MN warehouse responded to my questions via email within an hour of sending them, all during non business hours.

The installation technicians had a lot of the lift pre-assembled before coming over to install which made the time on my clock very minimal, which was nice. They marked center of the bay and asked me exactly where I wanted it placed. They helped me decided most optimal placement and once I decided they went back to work.

They proceeded with the installation and were done pretty quickly. They made all the adjustments, bled the hydraulic fluid and cleaned up after themselves.

Although I could have installed it myself with the help of a few friends, I believe the cost of tool rental for a nice hammer drill, the cost of a nice carbide and transportation definitely made the $450 for there installation well worth it. I didn't even break a sweat watching them do the installation

Awesome! Do you have more pictures of your shop?

I can get some more when I finish up cleaning. I wouldn't really consider it a shop, it is my personal garage. I think of a shop as a place that profits or at least breaks even... I have yet to do either of those with this garage =)

Extremely jealous of your set up...! Question, how far off the wall is the lift post? Do you have enough room to pull tires and work along the wall, did you not have enough space to shift it over another 6-12"? I'm a big guy I think I would feel smashed against the wall. Looks awesome though!

I had questions about this from others. I guess I could have room to move it over another 6-12" because I have a 2 car deep garage. But I felt the placement was okay. I can amazingly fit between the column and the wall.

The base plate is 6" from the block, and the column is about 12" from the wall. I did brakes and a drivers side front hub on a Saturn Vue yesterday and I didn't feel cramped at all and I wasn't against the wall either. I would say probably 4' from the wall and the side of the vehicle.

Beautiful. Looks like it's a perfect fit.

When I built the garage I made sure to make the ceiling height 144" as most above ground overhead require 142.5". Sometimes I wish I did scissor trusses for the single car bay so that I could have a total over all lower ceiling height. Oh well, lessons learned for the next garage.

Glad it worked out. Four feet is actually a nice amount of room to work from. Good job!

When I was a tech my bay had two lifts column to column, it was a pain in the *** to work that close to another tech.

I wish I had a lift like that. I often need one, and jack stands just don't go high enough.
