Lift motor wiring

Hey everyone, first post here. I'm in the process of installing a gilbarco/manitowoc gff-70 lift. I'm stumped with the wiring. From my understanding, the plug is a 110v plug, but the motor is a 220v. Anyone know what I need to do to get this wired up? I'm going to be running a dedicated circuit for the lift, I just don't want to buy the wrong wire. Attached are pictures of the plug that is already on the lift, and the info plate off the motor.

Notice the non-molded plug on the lift. I'm assuming it is used and previous owner used whatever he had in the shop to install or repair it.

20 amp 2 pole breaker in the panel, #12 wire (2, any color except gray, white or green plus the ground, green only), a 20 amp 250 volt outlet and a new 20 amp 250 volt plug to replace the existing one.

If you're using a cable of some sort and it has black, white and green, you can use the white as a hot (one side of the breaker) but it must be identified as a hot. Red tape will do, coloring it with a sharpie works too.

To clarify, the plug on the lift was there when I purchased the lift. I want to make sure everything is correct before I attempt to plug it in. I wasn't aware that you could run a 220 v motor on 110v power. I have a 220 outlet not far from where the lift is that I can use for the lift, I just don't know 220v circuitry.

You cant.

The motor would need to be dual voltage rated, 115v/230v. Or, in your motors case, triple voltage rated (115v, 208-230v).

The original owner had to have it wired as 240v. They just used the wrong outlet and plug and wired as 240v. The neutral of the 5-20 was used as a hot. 240v is two hots whereas 120v is one hot and one neutral so the 5-20 can actually be wired as 240v.
