I'm currently using 4 ft T8 fixtures in my 18 x 28 race shop. I'm planning to switch to the Costco led fixtures. Does anyone know the best way to decide how many fixtures, placement ect...? I tried to add a picture of my shop but was unsuccessful so tips on that would help also!

How do the lumens compare to your existing fixtures? How do you like the placement of your current fixtures? You already have a layout, you know if it works and doesn't work. As far as placement, keep what works and fix what doesn't.

It really depends on how you expect to use the light, whether it is for general or working light where you need to read measuring tools, see detailed workspaces, etc. I just replaced a fixture in my shop with the Costco LED tubes, nothing short of amazing difference. Both the luminence and colour balance are excellent!
Generally, if you look at the manufacturers specs on the light output you can make a fairly simple calculation to determine what level of luminence you want for a given area and that will allow you to calculate the spacing between fixtures. Of course it's always worthwhile to test a small area to verify your assumptions and calculations.

Good luck.

First off, start with at least 6 fixtures of 2 bulbs (4 footers). Then . . IF . . you want to go for more "daylight" level of light, get closer to 8 fixtures, or MORE !! :D

Lots of ways... here's the one I use:

..... I upload my pictures on Photobucket and then copy the IMG link and paste it here.

Step 1:
Take picture

Step 2:
Upload picture to Photobucket

Step 3:
There are four URL's you're allowed to choose from:

Email and IM
Direct
HTML

Use the IMG URL.

Step 4:
Paste URL in a reply here and post.
