Linesman pliers or all purpose?

This is off topic but not really only because it was mentioned above via the back stab wires... ...butif the back stab wire method is such a bad thing why isn't it eliminated? If the wires are prone to coming loose out of the back it just seems silly to me that one would use it...

Exactly.

For clarity, "back wiring" is different from "back stabbing".

Back stabbing is a horrible idea, but somehow it caught on in the residential market. I'm most familiar with it in track homes where the lowest bidder is in charge. It's fast and easy to strip a wire, shove it in and be done. Somehow, leviton got these pieces of **** listed and that is how the sh*t stuck to the wall. Back-wiring is an actual clamping mechanism where you do not need to bend the wire. You only need to screw the clamp shut. I'll trust a full 20A through a clamp connection all day over just one backstab. https://www.handymanhowto.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/DSC03649.jpg

All pros I know use their linesman pliers for just about everything, including stripping solid core wires. A good set of linesman pliers will outlive you.

I've wired my two houses that I built and I can't imagine what it would be like without a good linesman pliers (I also use Klein)

Kleins are outdated. 9" Knipex combination pliers, don't get the linesmen. Combination are Lighter sharper and smaller

They're done by hand. I usually look in the store before buying. However it's rare that they're perfect, and rare that it is a functional issue
