Does anyone have experience with these? I was thinking they would be nice to use instead of hauling my torque wrench out all the time.

Also is Lisle the only one manufacturing these? The price is pretty steep

Possibly unpopular opinion, if these are being used for oil changes, I think they're the dumbest thing ever. I know there's the meme and all about putting on drain plugs with impacts and what not, but do people really need a torque adapter to know when snug is snug?

Anyways, for $200 I’d keep using the torque wrench. Who knows how accurate they are and I’m guessing they’re not able to be calibrated

They are for plastic housings, which you DO NOT want to overtorque.

I got the 25nM one ($31) specifically for our Prius and it seems to have worked fine (tested with digital torque adapter). 18ft lbs happens to be the specified torque for the plastic oil filter housing for the cartridge filter.

I got it because the Prius is so low to the ground, even on ramps it was a PIA to properly swing a torque wrench (you do NOT want to overtorque the housing cap - many horror stories) so I used it with a standard ratchet and it worked great.

We no longer have the Prius, so it sits in my tool chest...waiting...

What about a digital torque adapter? Seems it would allow you to achieve the same thing, be more flexible (other uses), and would be more compact. It would also be much cheaper.

Ok, that’s a reasonable use case. I hadn’t considered that.

If this question is for me, I do have (3) digital torque adapters, but:

1. They are not very oil resistant and robust (in case I drop it) - I'm pretty clumsy.

2. It works a treat, and I don't have to listen for the "ramp up" and eventual screaming of the tone. Just turn til it clicks - no thought to it, and at 63, I need to preserve as many brain cells as I can.

3. Why use a tool I already have, when it gives me a reason to buy another tool?

Klick Wrench makes oil filter sockets with the torque setting built in. Haven't tried one, just saw it in a toolbox tour video.

Having an infinite supply of digital and analog torque wrenches I don't feel any need. BUT THE ADVICE GIVEN ABOVE about not over torquing these plastic oil filter housings is ABSOLUTELY RIGHT.
