So, I currently am in college and was part of a Clean Snowmobile Team that competed in Houghton Mi in March of this year, we brought a Polaris FST Chassis powered by a Kubota Diesel, that's another thread. The SAE shop at our school has several Lista cabinets that I assume were donated by a department or were part of the overstock auction the University has. We brought one of these cabinets with loaded with all the tools we need to do just about anything to the sled.

So we get to MI after a late night of driving due to leaving almost 8 hours later then planned, a fire on the sled and bad starter on the Suburban we were using made for a great day. Get to the competition on Monday morning, unload the trailer, getting the last touchs on the sled taken care before the tech inspections, and all of a sudden the toolbox won't open. Now we are up a creek cause we can't get the tool out, about the only tools we had out of the box were the drill and some drill bits. One guy wanted to just drill out the lock, I wasn't sure that would work, I wanted to give Lista a call and see what they said.

So I found the number on the Lista's site, and gave them a call and spoke with Shannon, she identified the box by the description I gave and the likely issue. Said she would send over directions to open in via email. I waited about 20 minutes and got nothing. At this point I figured I would call again, and see what the issue was, spoke with Heather, equally as nice as Shannon. Told her the issue I was having and that I had spoke with someone already. She took down my info, and 2 minutes later I had direction to get the box open. Got the box open in about 10 minutes of fiddling with it. We got to tech on time, and passed without an issue. Shannon has just got one of the letter wrong in the email addy(I had poor phone reception so that could have been the issue).

So big thanks to Lista's Customer service people.

Looks like they helped you out in the clutch, but why wouldn't the box unlock to begin with? I have a Lista MP750 storage cabinet where occasionally I have to unlock it, lock it & unlock it again before it will open.

Other than that it's a great box. The drawers are smoother than my Snappy KRL 7022!

Once the draws was too full and the lock bar got pushed so all the drawers were locked. We don't have a key as it was a surplus item

Ahaha, well, good on them for helping you. BTW, did you have to prove it was yours before they would advise you?

Had the same problem with one of my boxes. Took those dorky plastic POS things on the back of the drawers off and never had the problem again. Those plastic doohickey's lock the drawers to keep them from sliding out, which never really ever happens anyway. Crappy design if you ask me.

The LISTA one-drawer-at-a-time interlock is there for a very good reason. With a capacity of 440 lbs per drawer the last thing you want to do is open more than one drawer at a time. The way the lock bar is designed, it latches locked when one drawer is open and latches open when a drawer is closed. It is possible to open more than one drawer at a time if you open them all at the exact time.

From time to time a lock bar will lock due to shock as when a drawer is slammed shut. Without a key or the proper instructions you can't get back into the cabinet.

Shannon and Heather are both awesome Customer Support folks at LISTA. We also have the 'break in' instruction so if anyone needs them when LISTA is closed send me an email [email protected] and we wil send them right out.

Individual drawer latches alone will not make a cabinet safe from too much hanging open load. The interlock system is actually a really great idea.
