Happened to stumble on this thread a couple weeks ago and I then put myself in the market for a new steel workbench.
http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=337668

I'm glad I stuck it out for a couple weeks because of the more informative review that came in later on in the thread. Thanks firworks!

So I was still looking for a solid steel bench when I found this site:

http://www.hayneedle.com/product/littlegiantweldedsteelworkbenchwithhalflowershelf.cfm

I placed an order for a 84"x36"x36"H LG bench. I had a coupon for 10% off and free curbside delivery brought my total to $417.

Literally the next day I saw the exact same bench on the exact same web site marked down by over $50. Luckily I was able to cancel my original order before it even processed. I then reordered using a different 10% code and paying $362 total price in the end.

Funny thing is that the larger sizes of these Little Giant benches are cheaper than the smaller ones. I suppose it's because they support less weight? 3000 lbs will still be plenty for me though. Eitherway, hayneedle has great prices on a all of the LG workbenches: Heavy Duty, stainless versions etc. I hope this helps someone out if they were looking for a solid table.

As in the previous thread about the 96" Home Depot bench, I'll make an arrival and overall first impressions follow up post to this thread about the Little Giant.

I had asked about the Little Giants a few months ago and nobody seemed to have much experience with them.

So I bit the bullet anyway and bought one. I also notice that they're cheaper for bigger and ended up with free delivery from Jet.com (Zoro).

I couldn't be happier with the table. If you're expecting pretty this isn't it. It's a well built work table and can get scratched in shipment. If you're planning on adding more scratches to the table this shouldn't matter.

Thanks for the feedback. Did it arrive in a box or just unwrapped ready to place and get to work?

Pretty doesn't really matter to me. I do expect to put a lot of scratches on it myself. I could always scuff and repaint it if I dug scratches down to bare metal. If it scratches to bare metal all time I could even bolt a sheet of 3/8" plexiglass on it.

It shipped standing on end in the truck attached to a pallet. There was plastic sheeting wrapped around it but the straps attaching the table to the pallet dug through that and into the table. There was some deep scratches through to the metal upon receiving it. The finish is fairly durable though.

I do various mechanical work on it which has scrapped down to the metal (as would with any finish), I just wipe it down with WD-40 every time I finish a project and the table is clear.

I have the WW3672-8PHFL and I have no doubt it can hold 5000lb. If somebody wants to buy me a second, I'll drive my Jeep on top of them.

I've bought a few Little Giant products over the past few years. Definitely industrial heft but the weld quality was mediocre at best. Probably only a cosmetic issue since they are over designed to begin with.

Please post pictures when you get a chance.
Thanks

Will do. The estimated delivery is mid October. So we are all in for a good wait.

Good to know. Hopefully it's just cosmetic. FWIW I've seen 10 ton padeyes that looked like a 7 year old melted a crayon to weld them on. They were pull tested to 15 tons and passed. Sometimes ugly is ugly but it works.

Well it arrived. Very pleased with the purchase. This bench is stout; enough for my needs.
The delivery company posted tracking info and a first available delivery date. Once I saw it had arrived in my local airport I called the delivery company and scheduled delivery for the next day, which was two days earlier than they had posted as the earliest; took a shot and got lucky.
The delivery guy called me an hour before showing up and man was he awesome! He backed the truck down my driveway and nearly into my shop. Then he helped me lift the table and spot it in my shop without me even asking, he implored himself to help me. Needless to say he got a decent tip as well as a cold coke and bottle of water for the road.
Back to the table, it arrived without a scratch on it. The driver said it had been strapped onto a pallet sitting on one of it's short sides so it was 7 ft tall and too tall to fit in the truck. He cut it off the pallet and stood it upright in his truck. Still, no scratches and everything is square as can be.
I can see some raised areas on the table top from welds underneath, but everything looks very clean and like it was made with precision. I sat on it, (200 lbs) in the middle and it did not bow a single bit. 3,000 lbs might be pushing it if the weight were not spread evenly, but I can tell you this: I'll have no problem driving my 900 lb Harley up a ramp and parking it on the table to work on.
$362 bucks to get "set-up" delivery for a table this nice and sturdy is pretty good I think.

I already took apart my chain saw on the table and replaced the chain. The table top held up very well to sharp oily chains being drug across and it wiped clean. I think I need to raise the table an inch or two. It is a true 36" high. I'll get measurements from the lower shelf to the underside of the top tomorrow.

"Legs have 2-inch square footpads with hole for mounting to the floor."

Can the table be mounted on casters?

That's what I'm going to do.
Although, the foot pads are only welded on two sides and they seem like they'd bend up if too much weight is applied directly to the center hole from a caster bolt. If they start to bend right away I'll bend them back and cancel the caster plan. I imagine they'll bend over time but as long as I don't try to push the 3,000 lb weight limit then I think they'll remain usable for a long time.
