So the support that holds the cheap rest stand on a 6" 1/2 hp craftsman grinder I have broke. It is like, I dunno, 30 years old now. Made in China. Probably $39 new. I've replaced the bearings once already. These type grinders are the consumer ones for doing light jobs because they stall easily. I ordered some inexpensive tool rest stands from Amazon to replace the broken stand. They sent the wrong ones so I decided to look on ebay, CL, FB Marketplace etc for the part or something that would work. Ha. There is an identical grinder some 60 miles away realistically priced for $50 but that is too far to drive. So as I shop I am LMAO at the prices some people are asking on grinders. These are not commercial grinders. These are DIY cheap 1995 - 2010 era 1/3 to 1/2 hp craftsman, chinese offerings, old stuff someone might get electrocuted with if they don't rewire them first, beat up and missing parts. Unknown brands. Stuff HF probably sold for $29.95 20 years ago. These people want $150 to $500 for these, and then if shipped, another $150 - $200 for shipping. Like what are these people smoking? I noticed a consumer grade grinder stand that is $500 in an estate sale. It is going to end up going to the iron heap at that price. I am just sharing what is hilarious to me. There are many used grinders at $20 - $40 too, which is realistic, and many of those have been listed for a month or more. I just can't get over how some people can be so far off the market price. LMAO. Are the rest of you seeing this behavior in your neck of the woods too?
