Well, after several purchases from a few pawn shops for tools I've wondered who is exactly getting the deal - me or them.
Only buying wrenches, sockets and hand tools. Average is approx $.70 to $.90 for wrenches, $.50 to $.70 for sockets. Brands have been SK, SO, Mac, Matco, and older Craftsman. Passed on the well used, only purchased items that were nearly new or slightly used.
I'm curious as to whether I'm in line with the average pricing, or foolish to have spent about $40 for a few filler items, and the rest for the tractor box.
I've walked when the pricing was higher, and went back for more when the inital offer was accepted without any more haggling.
Thought some were only fair, some steals - like a unused proto 5/8" saltus for $.75, 2 new rp craftsman flare nuts - for the same $.75 price.
Now if I could fill up the rest of a saltus set for that price, I'd feel I did well.
Question is who is the victor in the price war?
