Lock ring pliers needed asap

I need a set of lock ring pliers. I'm trying to install a lock ring on an output shaft and the set I have are snap on srp5a and thry won't spread the rings far enough. I have snap ring pliers but there is no holes to insert the tool. Any suggestions? I gotta get them tomorrow, so hopefully I can locate them.

A standard lock ring/snap ring plier like the Snap-on SRP2B should work, the jaws open wider than the compound parallel jaw pliers

The Matco P24A is similar to a Mac TP602R, they are called a reverse bevel snap ring plier and I use them on the type of ring shown in the picture. Different than what you are working on

I don't have a matco dealer close. I do have a couple tool places so I'll see what they offer that's like those.

The Snap-on SRP2B as shown in the picture is your standard lock ring plier. A similar version is sold by a lot of tool companies.

How big does it need to open? I can't really ttell the scale in that pic.
I got blue point pliers to barely work on my NV271 output shaft(maybe 2 1/4"?)where my Craftsman and a few others wouldn't.

I tried this method and there just isn't that kind of room. I made a lot of new cuss words trying this way. I also tried getting the screwdrivers into the gear and roll the ring out, I was able to get the old ring off that way, getting the new one on isn't cooperating that way.

I don't believe you'll be satisfied with that style. I purchased a very similar product while rebuilding a Ford Toploader transmission. Use of it proved to be frustrating while attempting to install approximately 3 snap rings of your type. I finally bought this and I was able to finish the transmission rebuild. The Matco P 24A was the 3rd set of pliers I bought while working on the Toploader. It fits best because as you spread the jaws of the pliers, the contact face (angle) of the jaws match the angle of the snap ring.

I bought it from a Matco salesman's warehouse on wheels (bread truck style vehicle!)

These will work. I can't find a tool truck or dealer though, I got a couple options. I need these today, so I gotta take what I can get.

So found these. I called several places and this was my best option. They open to right at 2" . S&K 7636.

I have made several sets of snap ring pliers for different applications. Buy cheap needle nose vice grips and grind jaw points to fit ring. Quick and easy.

They have a couple tool trucks and a retail store. They sell sunex, sk, gearwrench, Lang, champion cutters, lots of stuff. Some of the prices could use some adjusting. But in a pinch they've come through for me.

I only know this cause I just left a pep boys to pick up oil, and saw them when I was looking for something else. They have a set from Lisle for like $21 in the little tool isle. USA brand, cheap, and in the store..

Not sure of the exact model number, but was probably these -

Craftsman sells a pair for about $15-19 but I prefer the Snap On SRP2B that cost around $54. They're more stout.
