I thought i'd start a thread for builds that were started / completed solely during the recent lockdown. I'll start of course. My wife got tired of me working in the kitchen so I decided to build a workbench for my garage. It started of with blue tape on the flor and took off from there. I bought a 2x4 basics kit years ago and I used that for legs. Here the bench.....

I like your work bench it looks great.

I have stayed home locked behind my gate since the middle of march and I play in my shop every day. I am working on setting up a pennzoil themed garage for display and these are what I've done in the last couple of months.
I've restored an alemite work bench

Mine has been a major remodel of our lake house. The over all project has been done in phases and the main floor is all that is left. I gutted the kitchen, carpet, strange paper/fiber ceiling tiles, furing strips for said ceiling tiles, Trim, carpet, And electrical outlets/switches. I installed 16 can lights, moved or added electrical, and plumbing. We hung the drywall, but I had a local finisher to finish it out. We are 2 hours away and I wanted it done in a timely manner. New cabinets and countertops have been ordered as well as some new appliances. I finished the hardwood floors yesterday and put some outlasts back in. I will edit and add pictures as they get done. All in all a bunch of work, and up to this point has only taken about 1 month. If I could only have gotten cabinets sooner.

Great looking bench! I built a portable bench that I sit on saw horses. I used finish grade plywood and have since destroyed it. I should have used a better surface for the abuse.

Awesome job! I might do something similar on my 1st floor! I used 1/2 plywood on the bottom and 3/4 mdf as a top. Im going to take the advice and put Masonite on top of that

I've been creating a finished great room in our barn. I walled off the back 1/3 to create a 16X28 room with a 22' high ceiling. I installed a man door, five windows, insulation, and tongue-and-groove pine on the walls. The ceiling is reclaimed old roofing tin. I put up two massive rough-cut 6x12 beams to brace the gable end, and iron tie rods to prevent the eaves from spreading. They are certainly oversized to add to the 'barn' decor. I also built a 10' solid maple farm table for the room.

Right now, I'm finishing the bathroom, and future plans include some kind of flooring, and a mini-split for year-round use. Overnight guests can use it as a guest house if they want more privacy. My goal was Thanksgiving 2021, so I'm almost a year ahead!

Our back patio area was in dire need of replacement. Because of the uncertainty around the rona, I was able to get a really good crew to come in and knock out the project because all their commercial jobs had been put on hold.

The deck was originally going to just get freshened up, but as I found more and more rotted boards, it was very apparent that it was a lost cause. So I did what seemingly everyone else in the country did this year and rebuilt my deck. I was able to reuse the substructure, but the top decking is all new.

Also built a new wall around the walkout steps to match the deck:

And yes, I did replace that awful light fixture with something a little more sleek:

I'm jealous. My job has been a nightmare since covid really got going and i've had less time off now than I did before. I'm the manager at an aviation facility where my employees have to maintain a medical clearance to do their job and are in close proximity to each other while at work so its a perfect storm for this **** even with PPE.

Wohoo! I built what is the third version of my workbench. Really thrilled with it. So many projects this year with nowhere to go. I'm hopeful to finally drive my (cough) 5 year car project of a '91 vw gti in 2021 as well. Motor goes to pros in 2 days for a few things.20201120_135355.jpeg20201212_143913.jpeg

This was started about 8 years ago. I am hoping to have it ready for summer now. Stripped the body and did a bunch of rust repair, swapped out the 700 r4 for a 5 speed.
Still need glass and to hook up lights and a few other electrical bits ,but it almost there. Would have never been this far if not for the lock down. At least something productive came of it.

See the link in my signature.

When we bought this property in February we thought we would be tearing down the schoolhouse. That changed right around the time that Covid lockdowns became a thing. Unfortunately I'm an essential worker so no working from home for me meant the project has taken basically every weekend since March.

The end is in sight though, at least for the exterior.
