Locking extensions

The HF ones are OK, but they don't make them in 1/4" drive- I assume because of the design. I have the HF in 3/8, and they work ok, but I can pull a socket off of them without much difficulty. While this is probably acceptable, I have the SK in 1/4 and 3/8 and can't pull a socket off of them within reason; it's a far superior design. So, if you want locking extensions in 1/4, then this style might be your only choice. And if you actually want very secure retention, this style is better over the ball retention method that's also used on QR ratchets.

Hate to hop in late. I just got the SK 45195 extension lock with the hex wrench.

How do you use it and what are the practical purposes?

What do you mean? You use the set screw to lock it onto a normal extension and then you use the collar to lock and release a socket.
what are the practical purposes?

Why did you buy it if you don’t know what to use it for?

I have a couple of Facom 3/8 drive locking extensions, they definitely help working with rusty hardware and awkward to reach spots where you don't want to leave a socket stuck on a bolt head or worse dropping into the "mysterious 10mm socket oblivion" never to be seen again!!!

I'd forgotten about the Ko-ken spark plug extensions. I might have to look at that again...
