My brother gave me some tools!!! My brother used to own his own shop in a small town in western Montana. He focused on tires, but would do other jobs to stay busy. He was the only garage in town and was always working. The Snap-on guy had to drive 60 miles to get to him. He only came once every two months and my brother always bought from him just to keep him coming back. My brother met a girl and he found out he likes to spend time with her and decided to sell his place. He kept most of his tools, but decided to bring me over a bunch of his doubles!

Then he unloaded this out of his pick-up!!! My brother said he is always the last stop of the day when the Snap-on guy does come to visit. He had just repossessed two of these carts and didn't feel like taking them all the way back. My brother bought both of them and he thought I'd like one. I can't wait to get it cleaned up and start filling it up!!!

@Unruh Just went your thread rather fast. First, your family is blessed to have a man with your energy and imagination. I can see why you became a teacher with that kind of personality.
Looks like you never lost the joy of you and your friend hanging out in the back yard with the old cars.

I just got this planer. The guy owns a very cool tool store and he said he started with 12 of them and this was the last one. He had them listed on Offer-up and I saw them listed last summer. He said he sold them all but this one. It had a hole in the box and for that reason it was just collecting dust. When I got it home I inspected it and didn't see any damage. I got it for $375 can’t wait to take it for a test drive!

Unruh: I need to set up my Dewalt 12 inch planer to do a lot of planing on my new cedar I picked up from the mill and would love to see how you set up your Makita which is very similar. i might by a client's old 15 inch Grizzly that is a beast, but I don't have a spot to set it up and it weighs 400 pounds so i'm hoping the Dewalt will do a nice job on the fencing and deck boards.

Ooooooh, a planer is something that's on my list for sure. Nice grab. I don't do a ton of hardwood projects but when I do I always seem to have problems with warped boards. It's something that I probably wouldn't use that often, but super useful when you need it. I know the DeWalts are popular but I would love to hear what you think about that Makita once you try it out.
I’ve been reading a lot about these Gator Blades. They are supposed to cut the clipping into much smaller pieces before shooting them out. I went ahead and disconnected my mower deck and gave it a good cleaning. It was time to sharpen my one blades and I figured I’d go ahead and give them a try. After the first use, they cut nice and smooth and do think the cut blades are smaller. Anyone else use these types of blades?

I use Gator blades on my walk behind but I cover the discharge chute to mulch the grass. It does a good job but if the grass is wet, it can clog up a deck quickly. They are the **** for mulching up leaves in the fall.
They are what I use on a zero turn. If the grass is much over 5-6 inches tall, cut at 3.5, I sometimes need to double cut the thick parts. However, once finished, a good rain or watering and there's nothing left on the surface of the lawn.
So I saw Bret’s rotating planer table and fell in love with the idea. Here is my take on it. Of course I forgot to take pictures until I was done��. I still need to get some casters and mount the planer, but here is my progress as of now.
I added a drawer on the bottom for the attachments like the dust collector shroud.
I had a couple floor pipe flanges from some unfinished project and thought they looked good on the side. I plan on adding some screws and painting the end of the rod when I mount everything up.
I used all pocket holes to make almost all of it and it was nice when making the drawer. The bottom is just a thin piece of plywood, I added a divider and the extra glue and staples for more support. The handle is from a piece of wood I got as a gift from a local woodworker. It had a crack and split on me when I was making a different project, but worked really great as a handle.
Here she is rotating. Really happy with how it turned out and a big thanks to Bret for the easy walkthrough.

Reminds me of the time I was trimming out some windows at my old house before I put it on the market. I had one stick of trim left which was just enough to finish the last window. You guessed it - I cut it too short. This happened around 10pm. The nearest place to get trim was a 45 minute drive one way. So instead of being able to leave town first thing in the morning (we had already moved out of the state) I got to make a 1.5 hour round trip to get one piece of trim in order to finish the last 5 minutes of work that needed to be done to that last window, and then drive 5 hours home.

Measuring twice and cutting accurately to the wrong value can be a problem...
Up the road from me lives an elderly lady. I started mowing her lawn for her and doing some random yard work if she needs it. It's only 4 hours a week or so and I do it for free. She sits and talks for about half the time. Last time there I was weed eating and threw a rock shattering my window. I have a neighbor that would be classified as a collector/hoarder. I drove by and saw he had a door for a Chevy sitting against his shed. I pulled in and got the window for a six pack of Pabst.

You see that the bottom of the “new” window is pretty rough shape. I cleaned it up and and took out the other one. I went down to the local window tint shop, they have done all of our cars, with the window and they put on new tint for free. Over all my window cost me a six pack of PBR and about 4 hours of my time. Could have been worse I guess.

Looks like payback to me. Your invisible friend noticed your kindness and it's no coincidence the lawn mowing and window repair took about the same time. You could buy a lottery ticket to see if it was just dumb luck.
