Tools of Japan thread showed some nice ones a couple pages back.

I think Pro America makes a nice pair.

I think* I saw some decent looking Doyle ones at HF.

Guys on GJ really like Tekton.

I only have Snappy and then super cheap ones I use with a map gas torch...

Tekton wilde blackhawk all pretty good, I picked up a taiwan set 4pc 11" which surprisingly decent for 24bucks, decent orange handle and finished pretty decent but most important jaw alignment and teeth was good.
Do like the blackhawk handle style, I got an old mac set much the same and like the design .

What I have that is locally available is the Double-X Crescent (Home Depot), Double-X Irwin (Lowes), Sunex (Tool Shed) and Harbor Freight. Anything else would have to be ordered online, which I am not opposed of doing. The Sunex looks pretty good, much like the Proto above. I am just not at all familiar with the brand. Their HQ's is just several miles from my home.

I have the Crescent PSX204C X2 Long Reach Plier Set, 2-Piece, I think are the same as the Gearwrench. Cripe may have them, I got mine off Amazon last year, a two pair set for around $17. Now going for $27.75
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00N9ULHO6/?tag=atomicindus08-20

I have a 3 piece set from HF too, that I keep in the house. I think I may even have a few of the older Tekton (MIT) ones too. If you go this route (Tekton) keep them oiled, mine seem to gather surface rust easily, this could be because they are older MIT versions, hopefully Tekton has found a better supplier for their newer versions than the ones I have.

At first I thought it was 54.95 each. Seems like a good deal. I am not familiar with Proto. I am guessing "Lifetime Warranty"? Are they good to deal with?

They the same as the blackhawk by proto besides grip color so not a great deal as blackhawk over 24bucks cheaper .
bowers another nice one and seen them around 22bucks a pair which not bad .

Me too. The junk ones are needed for junk jobs, and the Snap-On ones are needed because their fit and finish is sometimes the only thing that will get the job done. In my opinion it's money well spent.

I personally have a 4 piece set from sunex and also one pair of the gearwrench x pliers, whatever they are. Both are great. The sunex work fine and meet up even on the jaw side. Any long pliers will have flex at the handle end so commenting on that is useless. I can say the gearwrench ones are great in tight spaces.

All the Made in China ones seem to be around the same quality. I ended up getting the Made in China Mac ones when there was a 11 or 12 PC set for around $100 on the flyer. If the Williams, Proto, and Blackhawk ones recommended above aren't made in USA, I wouldn't spend the extra money. If I were you, I'd go in store and see if the harbor freight ones look and feel any good and go from there. I purchased two Tekton made in USA by Wilde pliers out of curiosity, a pair of slip joints and water pump pliers. The teeth on them seem to be well done. As for Tekton's made in China pliers, I do not know from first hand experience how good or bad they are. If you order them off Amazon and they look like they are poor quality, you can always return them.

Blackhawk and proto recommended and linked are all USA made.
Blackhawk is good buy, my lad has them and only trivial complaint that can be made for the 30bucks he spent is would of preferred both pairs have orange handles rather than differing colors.
For 15bucks a pair at 11" pro usable grade tool it cheap, just shame don't do a 6pc set .
I not seen tekton long pliers but the wilde stuff decent although possibly cheaper under other branding .
For price of these tools I wouldn't give a flip on warranty, if it under 20bucks a tool I buy based on tool quality/design alone, warranty of no major concern .

I have the bent 90 degree cresent x frames. they grip better then the single joint but double joint narrows space to get in. I got these from sears to replace a single joint craftsman I had when they no longer made craftsman ones

I bought that set off eBay awhile ago, I haven’t needed them much, but they’ve been fine for my use. Hard to beat for USA made Blackhawk for $30

Yes I actually didn't need them since I had a 3pc set of Matco that I won in a silent auction benefit for dirt cheap but for the price I had to buy them.

All ones I seen are usa stamped on plier joint, not surprised if proto moved to import though .
both proto and blackhawk linked in this thread usa, my lad got the ebay blackhawks and they usa, same models as proto usa besides grip coating, bargain for 30bucks a pair.

I have the Snap On set and honestly I don't really see the advantage they have over others. For the most part I have only really used them to retrieve Items that I cant reach and sometimes the handles interfere with opening the jaws where the double x would have an advantage. It is nice to know you have a warranty but unless you are prying on something I really can't see them breaking. If I lost them tomorrow I most likely replace them with Tekton or Sunex. Or I would pick up the china Mac sets when they are on sale.

Yeh snapon waste of money on these as cost to warranty not even close to being worthwhile. I have china mac set couple proto usa and no brand taiwan, never broke one yet, even cheap taiwan ones up to most tasks .
double joint handy and again very affordable decent options available .
If buying cut off pliers then quality brand a must but basic pliers like this never worth spending big money. taiwan ones I got worked out 6bucks a pair and as usable/abusable as all others I got . spending like 50bucks+ on a pair of 11" pliers is simply silliness unless your particular trade scenario means you using them intensely with very specific design requirements ...

The Sunex 16" set has worked just fine for me. Roughly 50 bucks for four on Amazon.

I am not a HF basher, own plenty of tools from there, but, I have had bad luck with the straight and bent tip long reach pliers from there. Both wore out quickly to where the tips lost the serration and don’t even close all the way any more. These were purchased probably 7-8 years ago so maybe they are better now.

I bought the Tekton straight ones and the 45 degree ones, they were pretty nice for the money.
