The best I have found are Dunlop Purofort. A thermal lined boot you can wear all day and your feet do not get tired or cold. These came as recomendations from my wife's Newfie fishermen relatives...they wear them all day on their boats. Like this...

We get ours from Ranpro in Simcoe. Lined boots with liner, w/o steel toes were about $40 per pair at their Friday garage sale. Call to see what is going on these days.

Baffin is what I use. Also heated socks on the real cold days.

Almost lost several toes due to frostbite a few years ago, so feet get cold easy now.

I'd be careful of Keen. I had a pair that were a few months old and one of the soles was coming off.
They said to take them back to where I got them. They were a gift from far away, so no way to take them back.
They said to buy some glue and repair it myself (which didn't work). Not willing to exchange them. Essentially no warranty and crappy customer service.

I have an ancient pair of the original LL Bean Maine hunting boots. My feet have never been cold in them. My feet don't get cold easily though.

Had the exact same experience with my Keen leather boots. I do think they have a upper tier (USAcoo?) but mine were not it.

I wear Thorogoods/Redbacks but not sure if they offer winter protection

What is the activity you're doing ?
Looking for something to and from work, something to wear all winter when I’m out and about.

I have a pair of the Dunlop’s for shoveling snow, so not looking for anything super big.

Can't add a whole lot on boots. I wear Red Wings that last till they don't ( 5-7 years on the sole). One of the biggest difference in my life has been to switch out socks. I have 4 pair of Darn Tough socks, they just feel better, feel warmer. Couldn't ever go back to regular socks.

I bought these last year for work, only wore once as it hasn’t been cold enough. Very comfortable, easy to walk in.

Steger mukluks. Not good for work in an industrial environment, but hunting, fishing, chores outside, sitting, standing, snowshoeing. They're like big mushy slippers. Boiled wool liner, canvas and moosehide exteriors, soft rubber bottoms.

They work by having no pinch points on your feet so the blood circulates, and breathing the moisture out well (some liners are boiled wool with also poly fleece blend mixed in), and your foot muscles getting more of a workout (they say.)

Max ****:

More subtle:

Camo and very expensive for some reason:

Google about and you can find forum discussions and videos.

It depends on what you are doing outside. If your ice fishing (a lot of standing around) you want a "pac boot", with a removable liner. Obviously too bulky if you are working construction.

Moved from made in Canada to Made In the Other Side of the Pacific.
You can thank being bought out by Columbia for that. Just another fashion brand now.

A little concerned about Baffin now too. They were bought by Canada Goose a few years back. I was at Marks yesterday getting snowpants for the kids and noticed their Snow Monster boot was made in China, and theyre close to a $300 boot.

I have a little more faith in Canada Goose than Columbia. Although CG is now a fashion brand they still make a few working clothes, hope they dont "fashion-ize" Baffin like Columbia did to Sorel. Baffin has a long history of making outdoor workboots (safety Green Triangle) for the Canadian winter. Dunlops can't hold a candle to Baffins in the real cold.

Spent the day on the tractor blowing snow wearing my Baffin Drillers. Toes were toasty.

I love my Keen insulated composite toe work boots! I've had them for 2 years now and cold feet has never been a problem! I do slightly oversize my boots and always wear a pair of thick Smartwool socks with them.

If I'm doing underground or working a lot in the mud, my Muck Artic Pros are my go to!

Find a comfortable water proof boot then it's all about the socks. I have worked outside in Michigan for 26+ years. Good warm socks are 90% of the solution to warm feet. Keep moving too. Standing or sitting still makes your feet cold.

I keep thinking I'm going to get a pair of Keen Chelsea boots for a set of work/beater/garage boots:

I got a pair of these in 2012 (just checked Amazon). My daily knock around boot in the winter, I love them. They're the Anchorage.
Sorry to hear others have had problems with Keen. I'd buy another pair in a heartbeat.

Hmmm... I'd probably be buying them from Keen's website, but...

The Blundstones (500/550) on LL Bean are interesting, but the sizing seems a bit squirrelly (Aussie sizing, which I think is similar/same as UK sizing, which would put me in an 11 based on my 12D Brannock, but their estimator tool says 12, which their table converts to 13). I'm guessing their estimator tool isn't accounting for the non-US sizing).

Skip the Blundstones... they are now made in China

Go for the Redbacks, same boot but still made down under (and awesome)

and iirc AUS to US sizing is one size smaller- so if you wear a US11 buy a AUS10

Those look in interesting - thanks for the suggestion. They don't seem to have any of the Chelsea style boots in my size, but sent them an email.

Just heard back - looks like spring before the next batch is in, and they offered to let me pre-order. :)
