My favorite screwdrivers have been Matco/Witte. They’ve been the most durable for me. I admittedly use them for lots of different prying duties and they hold up great. If I try that with a Snap On screwdriver, I’ll break the tip off. Snap on screwdrivers are nice but don’t like to be abused.

I’ve got a couple old Stanley screwdrivers that belonged to my dad. They have orange/black handles and must be at least 40 years old. They’re so strong. The smaller straight blade is my go to for digging out rear main seals.

Just received my 63 pc Tekton set, they look well made, feel nice in hand and are all USA made. It's nice to have a complete set of screw drivers plus the nut, torx & sq drive all as individual drivers. Have to get some use out of them to see how they perform.

Also got the Felo wood handle set, nice sturdy drivers & they go well with my sorby wood chisels. Just feels like you should use a wood handled driver while doing wood work.

Does Channellock still make their domestic ones? I have the ugly imports but they also were selling home brew.
This 10 piece USA made set is available via Amazon for $64 bucks. Seems all their "Professional" line is still made in the USA.

The tip is a bit soft on the slotted channel lock screwdriver. Just thought I'd give you a heads up. Yes, my slotted driver is USA made.

I vote for Wiha.

Got a small set from Griot's Garage years ago and it took me a long time to appreciate just how danged good they were. Especialy the #2 Phillips. I can't imagine spending more for Wera or other fancy brands, even if they might be nicer, because I'm happy enough with the Wiha I've got.

I noticed some physical changes in Tekton's screwdriver lineup. The grind is different on the slots now and another member mentioned no more black oxide. This could be evidence of a new supplier but only speculation.

Special shout out for the Vessel Wood Compo Tang-thru with a really nice non-slip grip: https://www.vesseltools.com/handtools/screwdrivers/non-slip/330-series-detail

The Impactas are great to use too on my old Toyota truck, the JIS tips are invaluable. My main set are Felo with the striking cap and some wood-handled posidrivs, and I keep an assortment of Klein and old Craftsmans for beating up on if I need to. As others have shared, best to find what's most comfortable in your hands and gets the job done well.

There is a limited number companies that make shanks (like 2 or so), and most US brands use one of them.

I have had the Tekton high-torque screwdrivers and nut drivers for a while now after giving my 40+ Craftsman screwdrivers to my son. I am really impressed with them so far. After looking on their website earlier, I noticed that as far as nut drivers, they only list 6 standard and 5 metric. The 63 piece set is now 61 pieces. My nut drivers include 5 & 5.5mm and 11/32, which are no longer listed (probably not as common these days?). This also makes me wonder about a new supplier. Tekton's customer service will keep me returning.

I just picked up this 8pc Milwaukee set of $24 at Peavey Mart here in Ontario. I dont know who makes them but they seem to be good quality. At $3 each it seemed like a good deal to replace a bunch of awful no-name stuff I bought 20 years ago when I was broke.20220130_123621.jpg

I was looking for some last night.

Some odd reason, my #2 Philips screwdrivers keep vanishing.

I have at least 4 sets worth, a boatload of flat screwdrivers but only ONE #2 Phillips.

Just out of curiosity, what's the yellow acetate screwdriver brand?

I received a set of tekton hard handles today. I like them! I would have bought williams if they came in something other than black but black is too easy for me to leave somewhere and get lost.

Although they are black :) the large Williams hard handle set are hard to beat for the money. I bought that set for $109 a few years back and have been very satisfied. The set included some Wiha drivers, which introduced me to them, so I have also bought a basic set of their drivers as well. The Wihas have very nice handles for finer work, but do get dirty easy.

The combo of the two brands has been perfect for my car building work, and was less than $200 all in with Weha nut drivers thrown into the mix.

I also retired a set of acetate Craftsman drivers for these. My son is working them now.

So I ordered a set for $23 on Saturday and its coming today. I ordered it strictly to keep in the woodworking side of my shop. I have 4 rolling toolboxes on the opposite wall which is my auto and everything else side. My father-in-law always has a hard time finding what drawer screwdrivers are in so I plan to have these in easy view on a magnetic strip on the woodshop side for him with the other wrenches for the saw, router, etc.
Anyway I thought I would order him a set and when I just looked at them again the same seller has raised the price to $35.35. I guess he got swamped with garage journal orders...hahaha!

Huh. You're right on the pricing. I bought a set as a gift on Amazon some time ago and they were $19. Now $35.74

I'm afraid that the Incredible Shrinking Dollar is a bug, not a feature.

Given how few screwdrivers I really need, I probably should have bought singles. One advantage is that my magpie tool lust might be satisfied with one of each kewl-looking one. Really, I'd be fine with a couple of PH2's, a couple of slotted, and bit drivers for everything else.

FYI,
If anyone is still interested they're $26.50 at lowes online. Less if you have a lowes card.

I have full sets of Instinct, Proto, Altrade through handle, and at least 50 assorted drivers. I find myself reaching for that ten dollar alltrade set ninety percent of the time. The ability to beat on them and abuse them without worry about cost is just too tempting. If I need a lot of torque though, nothing comes close to the Instinct.
