What would be a super adhesive that could be used to bond rubber to metal? It would be used in a situation where the rubber is being used as protection from vibration and I would prefer that the rubber not separate from the metal. Any ideas?

E6000 adhesive. I’ve had great luck with it. The company should advertise it better. I looked at the description on the company webpage and it mentions being vibration resistant.

Agreed.
If you like E6000 when the need arises try UV6800. The 6800 is UV resistant and clear instead of black.
Both are good stuff. I always have some on hand.

I had some 3M industrial adhesive that is used to glue rubber boots to airplane propellers. It really holds. If you know anyone in the aviation repair business, it is about $40 per quart. I don't know where else to get it.

3M 5200 was mentioned above it is a great product , if you go that way be aware there is white and black the white is what you want as the black one is slow dry Theye do mean SOOOOOOOW when they say it like 4 or 5 days slow, the white is normal dries and wors very much like 3m window weld whitch is windshield urethane . 3Malso makes a 2 part structural adhesive that will glue anything together dont have a p/n but a small red box with 2 tubs and called strucural adhesive. all 3 will work great the window weld is in a calking gun tube and once you open it your done so use it and dont expect to use that tube again later, the 5200 stores ok for a while its in a tooth paste type tube and is a marine product that will set under water. the structural adhesive stores well as long as you clean the top of the tube or else the caps seem to bond to the tube .

3M Scotch Weld 1357. I must have made 5 trillion door sweeps at the pharma company. Nothing better than a thin coat of contact adhesive for rubber to metal.

There are so many adhesives out there to suit various applications that defining one based on the vague description isn't realistic. You can contact the manufacturers* with your specific requirement.

*Henkel (aka: Loctite), 3m, Dow Corning, JB Weld, Permatex, Bostik, Sika

This stuff is good. You let it partially dry and then stick it together. Depends on exact rubber type what works and doesnt. Chemistry (adhesives) has lots of rules, exceptions, and details.

clean metal really good first.
use red guard rolled on to metal.
let dry.
then use 3m adhesive rolled on .
the same 3m adhesive used for landau roofs of cars and Formica to counter top bonding put 3m glue on both metal and your other piece
and let the 3m cure to point where instruction say they can be bonded.
dry to touch
then use dowel rods and stick down starting from middle and work outward rolling from center to edges with roller.

E6000 is also sold as GOOP in many variations. They should all work. I saw E6000 in Wally World the other day

Thanks for all the responses. I'm sure at least one if not all will do the job.

BTW. Here's what I have to bond. A floorboard bumper on my Heritage Classic. The bottom piece that pulls through the lower plate so I'm going to try and bond what's lefty to the plate. Beats spending $139.00 for a whole new plate set.

3M 5200 is pretty stout stuff

A recent online, not perfectly scientific test, showed that 5200 had the highest strength and still some flexibility of any of the common adhesives.

It is expensive.
It take a number of days to cure fully.

Like everything else being bonded, it must have some "tooth" to both items and it must be clean.
