I am looking for the following in a garage for south Mississippi.
1) Ability to store Ski Boat (9X23), Fishing Boat (10X28), and vehicle
2) Workshop (Table saw, Work Bench...etc..)
3) Capability to add lift later
My county requires wind rating of 130 MPH
My current assumptions:
30ft by 40 ft
Outstanding Questions/Options:
pole barn vs metal building vs all wood construction
- Prefer all wood construction, but not sure if capable of span of 30 ft
Height of side walls
Lots of people suggest 14" for lift, is this really necessary if I have a 30 ft span with 3-4X12 pitch. WOuldn't the center of the span be tall enough to allow for lower outside walls? Can I frame traditional wood walls and use metal Scissor trusses??
Doors (leaning towards single wider door since I will be using 3 rear parking spots..)
- 2 12 X 12
or
- 1 12 X 14
Thoughts?
If I can get by the pole barn vs metal or wood, I believe that I can move forward with Slab and drive way...
