I hate doing / no good at drywall looking at new Idea's for my ceiling living in the So Cal desert cold is not a problem Hot I can handle but I would like to separate the shop from attic pictures are good thinking of just an alum. foil paper ?

how about just white styrofoam and run a wood 1x4 every 24" to take out the sagging?

Better than nothing. When you say 'foil' I hope you're not thinking of the stuff at the grocery store. Not a very good value. You can find some salvage material to make your ceiling out of. Foil over foam and used foil side up on flat roofs under the roof membrane have very good effects.

My vote would be tin with blown in insulation.

30x35 1050 sq ft when saying foil I'm thinking what you would see in a commercial /tilt up build. Cost is not the deciding factor clean +Quality is

I'd go aluminum composite panel in gloss white. 3mm gap filled with black silicon. Fasten with stainless button heads. Sweet

Any ceiling except a highly flammable one is a benefit in a fire.

What's the budget here? I think dropped ceilings are great. Lots of panel and lighting choices.

When the 'industrial' look of removing the panels and leaving the grid in place came out, I liked it but realized it wasn't the most practical thing to do.

But when are designers practical?

Put in a dropped ceiling grid and cut drywall to fit. Paint and drop in.

I noticed some OSB roof decking at Lowes with reflective foil on one side. Think you can also get dry wall with reflective foil on the back side. Your ceiling framing looks pretty stout. However, you would get a better result if you strapped the ceiling with 1"x4" boards 24" on center for 5/8 thick drywall which is code for garages in most places. If you use 7/16" OSB decking you should be able ******** 24" centers although I would prefer 16". If you decide to sell an astute buyer's inspector will pick up on non-conforming ceiling material and you may be required add 5/8" firewall rated drywall as a sales condition. I'd bite the bullet and do it now.

A guy on this forum used the vinyl or aluminum soffit material on the ceiling of his garage. Looked very clean, not sure on price per sq foot.

4x8 sheets of insulation with the aluminum foil skin. It's not any worse at supporting fire than those exposed joists. Plus, it's reflective, you can **** the sheets edge to edge and use those roofing nails with the colored plastic washers on them to hold it in place. Easy peasy.

EDIT: Oops, guess I was just a little too late in posting that. Never mind!

The lift is made by BESTWAY HYDRAULICS 2500 lbs cap. can spin 360 at any height maid in so. cal. they don't answer the phone or emails But if you can get a hold of them it is a grate lift

I used ridged foam and grid. The ridged foam has foil on one side and a white plastic finish on the other. Looks good and insulates.
