Her name was baby and she was just that, a big gentle baby.

I know that it isn't necessarily garage related, just felt like sharing.

Sorry for your loss, dogs are truly a blessing. We had an English Mastiff for 10 years and he was the same way.

Wife and I are just crazy about dogs. I lost my best friend in the world last July just before his sixth birthday because of bone cancer. (Not Riley in my avatar, he's our one year old rescue and doing fine.) We didn't even know he was sick until he started limping. Took him in for an x-ray and he was gone three hours later. Cried for days and I still miss him. People who don't understand think you're crazy for loving a dog the way you do but they are very important members of the family. Pups are the heartbeat of the house, full of nothing but love. I don't know how old Baby was but I hope you had a long and happy time with her. There's few things more profound than the love shared between a loyal dog and his/her family. Sorry you're facing this sad time. :(

Sorry for the loss of your dog.

Unfortunately i remember what my dogs neurologist told me that keeps a dogs too short of life in perspective, "you never own a dog, you merely lease them", but i guess you could use that quote about any person or animal in your life.

I'm truly sorry for your loss. She looked like a great friend.

I dont know if you are ready for a puppy, but our new Puppy Dakota really helped my wife and I cope with the loss of my namesake and avatar (Shadow) in january.

Sorry for your loss. Tough to lose a best friend.
In a few months, consider a rescue to fill the void. IMO- they make the best dogs. I have 2 right now & love them to death.

Hi gmhill33:
"A Great Friend" - is a good description for a great dog. Good Friends help you to be the best person you can be - and I believe that our dogs teach us lessons by example that we need to experience to understand. Loyalty, Patients, Kindness, Forgiveness and JOY are chief among them.

Over the tens of thousands of years that dogs have lived side by side with humans - - they seem to have developed their own missions in life.

One of the most important missions in your dog's life - is to be such a good companion that when they pass - you feel the need to go get a puppy. That is how our dogs assure that their future generations continue to enjoy the benefits of living with loving humans.

Nothing will replace Baby - but a puppy will go a long way in filling that void in the space around you at this point.

kind regards,
Carl B.

Sorry for your loss. I know the heartache your feeling. We had to put our "Spicy" to sleep a couple of weeks ago. Hardest thing I have ever had to do. Cried like a baby. Hang in there.

Sorry about your girl., I know how tough this is...... :(

We've had 4 St. Bernards over the years and they are such teddy bears.

We lost our girl Rhone to bone cancer in Feb of this year, Here's her tribuite video:

In March we adopted a male St. Bernard that was a stray, he's turned out to be a great dog and it has helped ease the pain of losing our Rhone.

Here's a couple photos of our new boy, he's starting to enjoy hanging out in the garage with me...

Thanks guys for all your kind words. I don't know what it was about her but she sure was a big part of my life. Usually she would be right here under my desk when I would be on the computer, so it's a little strange not having her there.

It took me a year of grieving to get over the loss of our beloved Sam, but keep the faith. The fond memories will stay with you forever but the pain will eventually subside.

Very sorry for your loss. I just lost my buddy (Duncan the cat) not too long ago.
It still hurts a lot.

Your friend was a very pretty girl.

Never feel bad about feeling sad for the loss of a pet.

Sorry for your loss. We had a Saint Bernard when I was a kid. I grew up on a farm, and that dog would get into the nastiest stuff imaginable, usually in an attempt to keep cool. He was a great pet.

That was baby. If you had her out walking or playing somewhere and there was anything that resembled water for her to cool off, in she went.

An alternate reality in a parallel universe.
My deepest condolescences for you and you family. I've lost a few of my puppies (I always call them puppies) over the years and dread the fact in knowing my female boxer is 11-1/2. I swear that they are 100 times more intelligent that people ever give them credit for, and I know for a fact that dogs are better than people, for those who doubt this, show me a dog that has lied? Remember your dog may have passed away, but they will never leave you, for they are always with the ones the love.

This is a tough thing to go through, about as tough as it gets, short of losing a (human) family member. I just buried the remains of our Yorkshire Terrier Lucy today, on the first anniversary of her death from spleen cancer. It is one of those diseases that just takes them out, wham, one day they are fine, next day a little droopy, next day dead.

A great friend gave us another Yorkie, Bella, who has done her best to fill the hole in our hearts. I'm a tough old SOB but I still tear up thinking about these little friends, gone too soon.
