I bought these adapters once before. They seem to be ok but softer than most impact adapters. I use them mostly for ratchets. They're cheap which is good since I don't think they'll last long with repeated impact use.

They are cheap enough to try out... I wouldn't be using them daily.
Suppose when I find a couple other things to order and get the free shipping I'll get a set.

I also saw this set for a couple bucks more.

Keep in mind that you'd be introducing an extra joint and lessening the power significantly, I think that would be a HUGE power loss.

Did you look at the pic in the OP? No extra joint or extension to deflect under torsion. They're basically an insert to fill space.

I have some by Grey Pneumatic IIRC. they're fine but I dont use them very often

I've got this Grey Pneumatic set, very handy at times, about 50/50 use with power tools & hand tools. I think they do have less torque loss then a normal adapter, but have not tested this to prove or disprove the theory. The magnets could stand to be a tad stronger but that's the only minor issue.

What BMack is saying is that the extra adapter itself is the extra joint, socket not directly on the tool's anvil. But yeah we all know this will reduce power, now a HUGE power loss with these, maybe not IMO unless they get worn out & fit loose.

For me, it doesn't really make much of a difference, these adapters are increasing drive size. 3/8" to 1/2" is what I'll mostly be using out of the set. If I'm using a 3/8" impact I'm not using it because of power, it's the compact size of a 3/8" impact.

Sure people like to test how powerful their 3/8" is by removing lugnuts & some actually use it for that purpose but I don't think to grab a 3/8" impact for removing lugnuts. 17mm-19mm (head size) bolts/nuts is where I draw the line between using a 3/8" & 1/2" impact. I'm using these adapters for convenience, say in cases where I already have some 1/2" sockets out of the tool box & want to use them instead of going back to the tool box to grab the 3/8" sockets. So again in my case, I probably won't be using them often.

I'm just a home gamer now working on my own stuff. I don't work at a shop anymore. When I did I never used step up adapters, never had a reason to other than not having the right socket available. That's why I never owned any impact rated ones until now.

I use a Sunex 3300 adapter when needed. It’s not low profile but it’s much smaller than conventional adapters. 1.25” OAL.

i use the matco branded ones that are grey in color and really low profile, I cant remember who makes them for matco but matco was actually cheaper. I'd say there is no lose when using mine as there is only metal filling the gap nothing to absorb the impact

I only needed the 3/8 to 1/2 adapter in that kit. I found it separately here on Amazon for about $8 with free shipping.

I agree, the magnet should be a little stronger.

I also saw the Grey Pneumatic ones, they seemed kinda chinsy looking and I wasn't sure how well the magnet would work.

I have the Grey Pneumatic ones. I only bought them to use on my oil filter cup socket to reduce it's 1/2" drive to 3/8". Why the Hell they made a oil filter cup socket 1/2" drive is beyond me, it could be made 1/4" drive and it would have been fine.
