Lowering my lift caution

I've got the Forward I10. When I put my car all the way up and then lower it to the stops all is well.
A few times now, when I've lifted it a bit to release the stops for lowering, one side has released and the other stays locked.
It's a bit scary as the car tilts some.
I've always been watching closely and stopped but it is a bit of a gotcha.
I then have to raise it more fully to ensure the locks on both sides are free and let the car down.
The lift is new to me this year so I've done this "gotcha" a few times.
I wonder if there is a stop adjustment off a bit or I just need to be more deliberate about lifting it maybe 6" to clear the stops for sure on both sides.

This happened once on my Atlas after about 3 months of use. The release cable had stretched some during break-in. I made a small adjustment, and all has been fine ever since.

Pardon me while I tell my "scary" story. Same issue, stops are out of adjustment a bit. I had removed the driveshaft from my car in prep to remove trans. No parking brake on. Not only did my car start rolling as one of the safety locks did not disengage, but there was no way to stop it. It must have been my lucky day as the safety lock that caught caused the car to roll forward to the ramp stop. If it had been a rear safety lock, the car would have come down from her perch. Disaster for sure. Don't think that I am not adjusting the stops frequently and watching oh so carefully every time before lowering the car. Also, wheels chocked and parking brake on every time when available.

Don't the ramps work as safety tire stops when the lift is up?

I think I'd pass on that design if I was looking at lifts.

Older style lift had removable ramps. Which were not on...

Ahh. I would think it would be a relatively easy add-on project. Just some steel "flaps" on a pivot that would hang down once the lift came off the floor. They wouldn't have to hold the weight of the car to drive up into the lift.
