Did you guys not own any clamps at all before loading up on every remaining clamp they had left? Clamps are useful as hell and you never feel like you have enough of them, but holy **** you guys must all have your own cabinet-making business or something.

Simple:

The way is see it, if someone walks into my shop and DOESN'T say something like "HOLY ****, how MANY clamps do you HAVE??!!!" then I don't have enough!

BTW, this is just ONE cabinet:

Honestly I have a few clamps but mostly from harbor freight. At these prices for decent ones I couldn't pass it up.

After getting the stuff above from lowes in Richmond KY, I drove 17 miles to Winchester to see what they had. They definitely had a lot in stock but the prices were not even close to what I paid above. They were very hesitant to price match another store and the first person I talked to flat out said "No" they wont match it even though I had the receipt in hand showing what I paid two hours ago. Finally the manager said yes, and I grabbed a few more pipe clamps and wood ones.

Weird that they would easily match a competitor but not another local Lowes.

Worked out of town today and on the way back stopped at another lowes and found 2 40" kbar revo clams for 10.99 each, 6 more of the duo clamps, a 5 inch vise (12.00) and some other stuff.

Nick wouldn't say that. He'd say something like "those wheels on your hummer h2 out front with the offroad scuba that has never been offroad look stupid".

That's how nick rolls.

oh yeah...they got the double drive ratchet sets (non-boxed) for 5 bucks. I was fishing for a bit socket anyway and it's got one + 5 or 6 sockets (went in my car) + bits (including robertson oddly) and a crazy twister ratchet that extends in 3/8.

Taiwan but distributed by great neck (none of their stuff is taiwan as far as I know) so I am confused. Good deal for the 1/4 shank bit socket alone...those are somewhat hard to find (for me at least). One could definitely use such a thing to screw some fake hood vents on their hummer h2 (I know they're stick on but the joke don't work without it).

I have two Lowes stores nearby. Today one was completely cleaned out of Bessey stuff and the other was nearly out. Since yesterday, they dropped the price that had been about 50% off to about 90% off on some of the clamps. In just one day it sold out.

I talked to one associate that said a guy came in and basically loaded up on all the marked-down clamps. Someone else must have made a haul on the vises, since all of them are gone but one. A few spring clamps (whatever they are called) were left for about $0.40 and I picked up a few. The good stuff was gone though.

When Lowes wants it gone, it's gone.

Oh, and they are replacing most of it with Irwin.

went to one store to check out the clamp situation. Yes they were on sale and much of it was cleaned out but it only looked like they had maybe hit the 50% off on some. All vices were still $25+

but I do agree with what was said before, you really can never have too many clamps of various sizes shapes...etc

The metric have been marked down...the std still 4.98. The hf ones are much easier to read, but hard to beat the price of the kobalt. Id get them while they are there

I picked up one of those today, if this is what you're talking about:

I was just wasting time wandering around the store and figured it was too good of a deal to pass up.

Started to buy one of those myself, but the online reviews are terrible. I still may pick one up just to see for myself. What's the COO?

Taiwan.

I didn't realize it got such poor online reviews, but it was more of an impulse buy than anything else. Then again, it was just $5.

Just left Lowes getting more clamps.

Went to home depot and they have all the Irwin half off. Maybe hone depot is dropping Irwin and Lowes is adding them?

Lowe's that I went to yesterday had all the Bessey clamps gone and Irwin in its place. I saw HD has some Besseys in the cardboard displays near the checkout. Pricing wasn't amazing, but it does appear you're right.

I don't remember looking recently, I know HD got rid of some Jorgensens in recent months but they still carry some still right?

Yep. They're swapping. Lowe's got a contract with Irwin and HD got a contract with Bessey.

Lowe's got the short end of the stick on this one. Bessey's better.

I like some Irwin clamps better than Bessey but like more Bessey stuff overall.

Bessey stuff already coming up on Ebay some guy selling a lot worth 800-1000 dollars for $365 + 75 shipping and says his stuff is German funny thing is his pics will not show where it's made. Got to love capitalism, I'm gonna stay with the ones I bought, gave alot of wood projects in the horizon.

All of my clamps even my 36" and 4" tradsmen, everything I got said china, maybe you got some old stock. Shoot I even looked at a old yellowed packaged 3/4 bar clamp thinking it might be old stock and that was even made in China you must of gotten lucky.

Quite frankly I was surprised when I saw "made in Germany". Now I'm kicking myself in the **** for not spending more but wifey was with me and at $159 bucks I quit buying.

I left plenty of 8" c clamps on shelf Friday. Today Nadda bessey in two stores.

Anyone have any insight on the time intervals that Lowe's drops their prices? I've noticed month price drops..

Even though their vises are not the good, if the price drops again, I might buy a rotating jaw vise.

would love to know too, they have a bunch of vises at all of my Lowe's I got a Wilton vise years ago from Lowe's for $20 still in the box. I expect the Vises to go down more, because they are not moving at 50 bucks or so that they have them at now.

Lowe's BOGO?

Perusing Fat Wallet today and came across the Lowe's deal on the
Kobalt 20-Piece Standard (SAE) Mechanic's Tool Set, Item #409432, Model 87141 discounted to $4.98 (planning on local pickup later today), and also found a BOGO for the Kobalt 10-Piece Standard Polished Chrome Standard (SAE) and Metric Combination Wrench Set, Item #: 538862 | Model #: 87083, $14.97.

This is the shorter format set, for a few bucks more ($ 19.97) the standard length set can be had with the BOGO. I wonder if there is a way to get one standard and one short on the deal at the lower price

Adding one gave the second one free. First time I have noticed a BOGO at Lowe's.

Our Lowes had the Bessey stuff ~20% off for a while. I just popped in on Saturday and they had slashed the prices. I needed some pipe clamps, and scored 3 fo the 1/2" and 3 of the 3/4" ones for ~$3.75 each. I also picked up some spring clamps for $0.56, and got the display model woodworking vise for $5.00 (was $7.** but marked down since it was the display). I also got a few bar clamps for a decent price. Not much left now though. I'm not sure when our Lowes does mark-downs, but this was a Saturday AM, so I'd guess either late Friday or overnight into Saturday.

When I added the short set to cart, the second set added was the standard length set so it was one of each. I decided not to buy though. I don't need more wrenches.

If those are the boxed wrench sets, they're Chinese rather than the nice Taiwan ones they have.

I went to one store today, the entire Bessey section was wiped out with the exception of 12" bar clamps. There was a whole peg full of them and they were still full price.

Offered to buy everyone of them on the spot for a discounted price, but the ASM shot me down.

Came home with a 5" multipurpose vise, vacuum mounted vise and a couple of spring clamps for just under $28 . The vises were display items $20 and $3 respectively. Thank you for this thread .
