FYI: any of you detroit guys still looking for the 3/8" ratchet kit, the canton store (48187 zipcode) has 9 of these kits still in stock as of last night. They are located in the "towing products (hitches, tow straps, balls, etc)" section of the store.

Paid 12.58 plus tax!

Mine was located in the outdoor section. Next to the equipment sparkplugs and oil

DezRanger where did you find these hanging in the store?

The small key chain knife was on a end cap in hand tools section. The bigger one was down the aisle with rolls of insulation and roofing just hanging down one of the columns, the mailboxes were on same aisle and the yellow tag caught my eye and figured since it was such a steep discount I snapped a pic.

There is absolutely NO rhyme or reason to Lowe's inventory or clearance items or their locations. I have 4 different Lowe's around me, and each one of them are vastly different when it comes to these things.

Good luck is all I have to say :)

If you can find the sticker changing person some of them will let you look at what they are marking down. All of them in my area are different. If the inventory shows 5 or less it is usually 0. Maybe this will help some of you.Of course if it is cheap they usually buy it.Inventory control is bad.

Even though I have yet to see any of the 'deal' items from previous threads marked down at me local lowes, I went yesterday and walked thru all the isles (not just tools) as they do not have a designated clearance section. None of these items were marked down/clearance. For the yellow tag items I did see, at best, it was 10% off the previous price. So indeed YMMV.

I know that at the Lowes closest to my house, the tool dept manager buys most of the deals as soon as the price really drops, and resales the tools on ebay

I'm sure that's against some policy. I worked at an Advance Auto Parts before and anything that ended in a 5 (IE: price $9.95) was on clearance and the price would go down until it was 5 cents. It was common to stash all the clearance stuff somewhere in the back until you got it for next to nothing.

One of my Lowes had ALL their Stanley commercial door hinges on clearance for under $2.
I also picked up a pair of 8" needle noses for $1.67, and Weber brand 3-pc grilling set ( tongs, spatula, fork ) for $14 (60% off)

checked local Lowes, for the ratchet/socket at 12.98. Computer said in stock, but tool dept people could not find any.

At my Lowes they were located by the lawn mower spark plugs. The people in the tool area couldn't find them so I took a walk over there and found them.

That's people stealing stuff, or putting it in their cart and not returning it to where they found it.

Exactly. I lucked out on a Lincoln electric welding cart this way. It wasn't in their system any longer so they gave it to me for the marked down Task Force cart price. :rocker: downside, is I've ordered many other things to get turned away.

Those flex head kits (item 436178) have been hiding in my store's lawnmower section since the day they came in, right next to the spark plugs. It's been a popular item on this forum for a while, and it seems like everyone's store puts it in a different place...but no one has ever reported their store having it in the tool department. Sometimes lawn and garden, sometimes automotive, sometimes some random section of clearance stuff in the lumber aisles. It was a seasonal item, not something they normally stocked in tools. Most stores only look in tools if you order online, so you have to go in and find it yourself.

$12.58 here, too. It's a nice little ratchet. I think they were $24.99 when they first came in. They're worth the search.

Funny enough, it was that way when the ratchet deal first appeared, but just recently I found 6 sets in the tool section.

Do the door hinges hold the door any tighter?

I'm not quite sure what you're asking. These are the hinges you find holding steel and solid wood doors at businesses and warehouses. Non-removable pins. Probably not something you'd use in your house...

Yeah, I went to go buy this ratchet set and the guy couldn't find it. I wandered around for 10 minutes then was getting ready to leave and they had it right on the bottom shelf under the wd-40 and oil stuff. :D

If the online system says it's there, it's probably there somewhere...

Same issue here. I went to svc desk they told me isle & bin location according to their system which the bin wasn't anywhere to be found they paged someone who could not help. So I left and ordered from phone using online ordering not a 1/2 hour later I get call stating my item was ready for pickup

I was told if it shows they have them in stock and you order online and they cannot find them they will source from another location

They just lost a sale from me. They had a Dewalt combo DCK235C 18V drill and impact set. Marked down to $180 on the shelf. I went over to Home Depot the same kit is $130. I bought it there even with a Lowe's gift hard in hand. The price was just too high. I just checked it online and the price in store is listed as $140. I probably would have paid the $140 because of the gift card. Several of their other prices today were much higher than Menard's also. I don't know if the shelf prices are accurate or not. I'm not asking on everything I look at. You can see both Home Depot and Menard's from there. I just go elsewhere. This is the Champaign, IL store.

The gimmicky lighted ratchets were marked down even more yesterday. The 3/8" was $5 and some change and the 1/2" was $7 or so. The extensions were around $2.

Lucky, my store says tough **** and refunds money. Only time I get a substitute is if I harass them and ask to speak with the tool manager.

Why not show them the HD price and ask for a price match?

I had already bought them and then double checked online. I needed it today. I just couldn't believe there would be a $50 difference. I saved $10 anyway. I'm not one to generally go back to the original store to ask for a price match. I'll just buy it where I find it for less. If I hadn't already used it I might consider it. Too much hassle to mess with. Spring is coming. I will use the gift cards eventually.

Looks like my Lowes is clearancing their Kobalt screwdrivers (the nicer type). No huge discounts yet, but everyone of them were on sale today and the sets were gone. Presumably to make room for a cheaper version at a higher price...lol.

Ditto. Only $1 off or less for now. I see them going quick though once they do come down in price. Everyone, even little old ladies, use screwdrivers and usually have several stashed around the house.
